The main theme for January is RESETTING PRIORITIES.
We are now under a new set of influences and themes. As the trends of 2010 have started their exodus as primary motivators and the new trends have begun to settle in, we are inspired to take the creative artisan energy of the last year and begin to use it in realigning our relationship with service. We want our lives to not just be creative but purposeful, growing us towards a deeper satisfaction around what we are actually doing here on the planet. In December, the influences were internal, transitional, re evaluating, and very focused on maintaining on a personal level. The moving center of 2010 stepped aside allowing the emotional center to flow in as the primary influence for 2011. Many of you may have felt unfocused, unproductive, aimless, tired, subdued and possibly even un-inspired as the moving centered artisan influence of 2010 released its primary position. Now we have an adjustment period as we realign ourselves with what we have chosen for this year. For a time it may still feel like we are under the influence of the artisan as there is definitely the creative desire for expression. However the artisan is not running the show but rather becomes part of the foundation that is in service to the server role of the year.
One of the first things on the agenda for 2011 is to reset your priorities. Spirit has given you many clues and messages over the past months regarding what should be important in your life, where you should be putting your energy and intention, what needs to be let go of as it is of an old paradigm, and what you should be doing and with whom. Some of you have been better than others about listening to these hints and actually taking the steps to reinvent yourselves in a way more aligned with spirit. Therefore some of you will feel a surge of energy this month that should enhance this alignment and open opportunities for self-expression, support and the experience of service. The experience of service is not only related to how you can serve others and the planet, but also addresses how you can be served and how you are presently served by spirit, your allies, the elementals and all of nature. There is definitely a potential in this alignment for a higher centered experience of life, connection, and all things being really "right".
If you have not been great at listening and feel your life is somewhat less than you would like it to be, it is never too late to discard those attachments and to choose resolutions that will put you back on track. We are still under the influence of the very powerful winter solstice, eclipse and Full Moon, and will be until the New Moon on January 4 that comes with a partial solar eclipse. The time frame between two eclipses, especially when they are accompanied by other very powerful alignments, is always very potent and should be used proactively to set your intentions and to get things moving in the right direction. If you have been feeling unmotivated, lethargic and unfocused, that could change just before this New Moon when we should experience a surge of energy. Make sure this surge does not scatter you into chaos and negativity, but rather gives you some needed fuel to move forward in the right direction. If you have your priorities set straight you should experience more energy, enthusiasm, inspiration and movement. Pay attention to the intuitive wisdom of the emotional center and the synchronicity it produces. Don't let the questioning mind get in the way of what you know to be emotionally true. Pay attention to the signs of spirit and don't argue with or resist what is obvious.
The resetting of priorities this month will definitely be addressed, whether proactively by your decisions and choices, or not so proactively where you end up at the effect of someone else's decisions and choices. For example, if you know you are in the wrong work situation but have not had the courage to do something about it, a decision may be made for you where you end up out of that work situation through a medical condition, being let go or some other unpleasant circumstance. Take the resetting of priorities this month seriously as there is a rather large engine of energy that wants to propel all of us in the right direction. Evaluate where you are with your priorities and be truthful about what needs resetting. It may be that you will have to give something up or disappoint someone or take a risk. But if it is the right decision, you will know it.
Since we are under the influence of the emotional center, these decisions of what is "right" for you cannot be fully intellectual. The knowingness must come from another more intuitive place. This is especially challenging for those of you who are not as comfortable with the emotional center and who are used to relying on your rational mind for your answers and problem solving abilities. This is a time when little can be actually solved by "thinking it through". It is better to use the capacity of the mind in support of the decisions of the intuitive self. Watch out for the obstacles of Self-deprecation and Martyrdom as they try to discourage and disregard what you feel as insignificant, wrong or unworthy. Watch the mind as it strives for control through these obstacles. Trust and hope may be uncharted waters for you but they may be all that is left in some situations.
Remember that what is right for you will also be influenced by the server role of the year. Re evaluate your motivations for anything you do and any situation you are in. Have the courage to change your mind, say no or yes, and to open yourselves to receive the support and service available to you. The era of going at it alone to prove your strength, power and independence from others is over. This is a time of building trust, receiving support, and collaborating with others. Resetting your priorities should always include putting yourselves first in line to be served by spirit and to receive what is available to you. Sometimes it is difficult to see through to what is your priority over what is someone else's priority. In partnership you may have to compromise and support and honor another's priority at the same time as supporting and honoring your own. This requires a balance so that there is an equal exchange. Often to make a collaboration work, all parties need to be supported equally in a give and take exchange especially when it comes to what is most important. What is most important to you may not what is most important to another and vice versa. Coming up with a balance where everyone gets their needs met and their importance honored will create a balance and bring the spirit of service into any partnership. The main thing is never to give all your power away and compromise yourself completely as this will only lead to resentment and Martyrdom. At the same time, if you are a person who does not make a point of considering what is important to others, this could be an opportunity for you to improve your partnerships by doing so.
Let's look at some of the specific areas you may need to reset priorities and what it may mean for you if you do it successfully and what it may mean if you don't.
YOU PERSONALLY
On a personal level your priorities would fall into the following categories: Health, personal growth and self understanding, your three primary needs, (suggested reading: e-book: The 9 Needs link here), relationships, hobbies and interests, life task work, karma, spiritual life and practices, major agreements, community, and all the intentions, desires, projects, lessons and productivity around all of the above. This may appear to be a daunting list but most of you can easily pick out the area that is most important. At the top of the list should be a good understanding of where you are in your life right now. Are you in a transition phase, a beginning phase, a completion phase, in one of your internal monads, imprisoned in a karmic situation or serving a major agreement? Knowing yourself and where you are in your own personal evolution will help you greatly in resetting your priorities. This will not be the same picture for everyone as people are in different places in the unfolding creation of their lives. So the first order of business is to figure out where you are, then to reset your priorities accordingly. If you are involved in a major karmic or major agreement situation, your compromises will be clear to you and you will hold them in the spirit of service. Keep in mind that the positive completion of any karma or agreement will only help to serve you deeply in the long run no latter what it may look like in the present. It is best to stay out of resentment and judgment of self or others. Take responsibility and know you serve yourself and others with the outcome.
Another aspect of resetting your priorities is to identify what does not serve you and eliminate it. You will need to be ruthless especially when it comes to what others may incorrectly believe is best for you or what your mind tries to convince you is serving when you know intuitively it is not. Be strong, courageous and risk taking in this area. When in doubt, look to your spiritual practices and to nature. Spend a bit of time daily in receptivity and acknowledgment for the service of Mother Nature, your allies and all the elementals. Make this a priority rather than trying to get satisfaction from a source that is not serving you. This is a year of tremendous personal growth potential. So begin it right. Make yourself a priority.
RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships may have to adjust to the resetting of priorities. It will very important to not take things personally as people change their priorities and possibly make decisions and choices that may affect you. You may witness seemingly irrational behavior and decisions that appear impractical but remember that what is intuitive does not always make sense. You may witness a relationship that seems entirely compatible break up because intuitively it does not feel right. Stay out of judgment, be accepting and never jump to conclusions. If you are in a relationship that does not feel right but appears to come with all the right components, you may have to listen more to your intuition and perhaps even make a choice that goes against your rational mind. The same goes for work situations, community involvements, your health practitioners, any business partnerships, students, teachers, employers, employees, friends, family, etc.; Evaluate your responsibility, agreements, karma, how you feel, and what your intuition tells you, and act accordingly. Be careful not to take this formula and use it to evade your karmic responsibilities. Use it rather to reset your priorities so that you will be served best in the long run despite what your personality may be attached to. Keep in mind also the need for balance and appropriate compromise, and the give and take of honoring another's most important priorities while acknowledging your own.
THE ENVIRONMENT
The water element is strong as it supports the anchoring of the emotional center as this year's primary center. The surge of energy at the beginning of the month may stimulate weather activity and environmental movement, unusual earth phenomena and weather patterns. Since this is a year where the oceans are highlighted, the tides could be unusually high and strong. Look for people to be more affected emotionally by seasonal disorders due to the emotional nature of the year. Personal mood swings are played out in the environment as dramatic juxtapositions of high and low temperatures, wet and dry conditions, turbulent winds and stillness, drought with fires and overly wet with flooding. The environment teaches us that we can never control or dictate natural phenomena. We can only be as prepared, flexible and accepting as we can. Blaming the weather never helps. Work with it instead. Focus your attention on the service it brings, how the elements serve you in life and how you would not have a life if it not for their support. We are in a greater cycle of acceleration and increase. This is reflected in the potency of the environment, the increase in solar activity, lunar tide effects, meteor showers and the influence of the planets. A greater consciousness of the interconnectedness of human life with the environment is the next great learning curve and we are all a part of it.
HEALTH AND THE PHYSICAL BODY
We mentioned health in the section on you personally. In addition to making your health and well being of your physical body a priority, you can also strengthen your emotional relationship with your physical self. Say hello to each body part, organ and system every day. Acknowledge its service to you and recommit your service to it. Listen to what your body has to say. Have compassion for it and forgiveness for yourself. Remember that your body is an elemental and is there to serve you as long as you take care of it. Much like a car that cannot be expected to run without gas and the proper maintenance, your body needs maintenance, attention and acknowledgement. In addition to a good diet, fuel for your body is love, good air, clean water and, most of all, attention. So say hello to it every day.
Challenges this month will be keeping emotional balance in perspective. Beware of overdramatizing symptoms or indulging in greed under the guise of needing attention. If you have felt deprived of attention you may have the urge to go in the other direction and overindulge. Everything has its balance and the priority is to find the right balance for you. It is helpful if you know what your balance center is (emotional, moving or intellectual) and engage it when you feel yourself out of balance. (Suggested reading: e-book: 7 Centers/Primary Reaction Centers link here) Points of physical challenge may include kidneys; lower back, joints, bones, pancreas and spleen. Drink plenty of water, lay off the sugar and get enough exercise. Allow yourself plenty of rest and if you happen to have a meltdown or two, know that it is all a part of the process. Just don't indulge.
FINANCE, PROJECTS, PARTNERSHIPS, BUSINESS
This is a huge area of resetting priorities. Use the criteria of service of self or others for your decisions. Most of you have enough irons in the fire that you will not be looking at starting anything new from scratch. In fact most of you probably have more on your plate right now than you can keep feeding. So prioritizing will be crucial to the success of what you decide to keep. Look at energy leaks and where time and money are going that is not serving, building or giving back in satisfaction, prosperity or service. Evaluate what you may be doing out of habit or based upon untested marketing. Go with your intuition rather than strictly numbers.
Regarding partnerships, make sure you are working in balance of most important priorities. In business, watch energy leaks, keep good boundaries and do what is necessary when it is necessary. In projects, put energy into the things you love and that are important to you. You may have to put something on hold for the future if you have too many projects on your plate. Not everything has to be done right now. In finance, watch your spending and put your money into serving yourself first. Be conservative but in service and generosity to what is important and of a higher service. It will come back to you a hundredfold. Release anything that requires funds that is not useful to you and your higher goals or of an old paradigm.
POLITICS AND GLOBAL ISSUES
Mood swings, differences in priorities, and challenges in how to work cooperatively in dealing with worldwide crises will all be part of how the theme of the month plays out on the world scale. There is an obvious need to prioritize how funds are spent and where creativity, strategy and energy go. From the more local smaller communities to larger groups including states and countries, some will take advantage of the surge to get themselves on the right track and others will get bogged down in their positions of who is right and experience the more chaotic and destructive aspect of the surge. The aggression mode of the year will begin to show its face and it will be apparent when it's not being used positively to get things done but rather negatively in fighting, arguing, slinging blame and trying to hold on to control. Remember the emotional center can act as a loose canon and emotional responses can either be intuitive, positive and loving or reactive, hateful and hurting. As the planet matures and we enter into this painful adolescent era, our service is to hold a huge container of compassion, forgiveness, love, hope and trust. If you feel helpless with what can be done on the larger scale look to your personal community and know that your service will always have a ripple affect on a larger scale.
DATES AND TIME FRAMES
January 1-8: Prepare for a surge of energy the first few days channeling movement and focus into the new moon on the 4th. It would be wise to prepare for this and revisit the areas of your possible choices, decisions or plans. It would also be wise to have prioritized some of your current projects and involvements as this surge could put things into gear if you are ready. This movement will be a welcome relief to those of you who have been poised and ready, but could come as a challenge for those of you who are ambivalent about your priorities. This whole first week of January should be a time of pushing the reset button, of realigning, of reprioritizing, and of getting everything ready. Focus on details and finish anything you started to fix or maintain or repair in December. Stay caught up with your daily details as much as possible. Watch the distractions of unnecessary energy leaks and pay attention to any opportunity that shows up. It may be just the thing you were wishing for.
January 4: New Moon with a partial solar eclipse is at 2:04AM Mountain Standard Time (the night of the 3rd). If you have not already done so, this would be the time frame to write your resolutions and intentions for the year and set your priorities as much as you can. Make a promise to yourself that you will not leave anything for tomorrow that can be done today. "Do it now" should be a mantra for this time frame. Things are moving so quickly these days that anything procrastinated will be just that much harder to catch up with. If it doesn't get done, ask yourself if it is that important. If it is, then do it now. If not, let it go. This is a good day to reset. The new moon is always a still point and a good time to indicate change. Just make sure it is something you are fully 100% behind as this new moon comes with the force of the eclipse and the surge of energy associated with planets going direct. Anything you decide will be supported so choose wisely.
January 9-16: It's a busy time. Chop wood, carry water, sort through your lists and your projects, deal with details, be helpful, show up in service, make lists so you don't forget, ask for help, receive support, be busy, busy, busy. This is a time of doings. There is a moving centered energy behind the emotional center that gives us very little time to think. Many a day will go by with much being accomplished but with very little reflection on what exactly what they were. If things are going smoothly with the synchronicity of being in the right place at the right time, wishing for something and it magically appears, thinking of someone and they contact you, and other such experiences, you are obviously on the right track and taking full advantage. If on the other hand you feel disjointed, chaotic, ungrounded and things are not flowing easily, then you are likely pushing and struggling to make something work that is not meant to. Revisit your priorities and identify what is taking so much energy. You may have to make a ruthless decision to cut it from your life. It may be a person, a practice, a habit, an attitude, a project, a job or some other attachment.
January 17-25: This is a higher centered window and a time frame that has community as a need and service as a big theme. Connect, socialize, partner, share, grow, study, learn, support and serve. Your relationships and community experiences will be the point of growth. You will get a chance to exercise your service, your boundaries, your expression and your creativity. Again if things are not flowing in an easy manner and you find yourself getting into arguments, fights or discord where there is no balance around important priorities and no honor of personal needs, something needs to change. The time frame should support new hopes, intentions, dreams, and a general sense of things being all right. Remember to watch for Self-deprecation and Martyrdom as well as the other obstacles as the rational mind attempts to stay in control. Rely on your intuition more than your thought process and it will better serve you.
January 19: Full Moon at 2:23 PM Mountain Standard Time. A social time to be shared and a time of expansion to be celebrated is the quality of this full moon. You have your priorities (hopefully) and you are open to connections, opportunities and expansion. Even though this is an ordinary time with ordinary tasks being at the top of your list, there is always a space that should be held for surprising breakthrough, opportunity and gifts from spirit. Even if you have not personally experienced this phenomenon, take some time and be in gratitude for the ever-present potential for this to happen at any time. In this way you are creating a greater possibility for yourself to manifest something more wonderful than you can ever imagine.
January 26-31: A huge time of manifestation. Be careful what you ask for. Much of what is being manifested now you asked for at the time of the winter solstice in 2010, but depending on how much focus you have put into those intentions, what is manifesting now will reveal to you what has become the highest priority for you. If it is not what you want, you will need to remove the attention you are putting into it. Some of you could be experiencing challenges in your lives due to constant worry and the difficulty of releasing the mind's hold on you. And others of you will be seeing the results of your trust in spirit and allowing your intuition and emotional center to be in the drivers seat. If you are not manifesting what you want, revisit your priorities and your motivation. Stay out of blame, don't take anything personally, allow others their victories without judgment and practice resetting yourself to a more balanced alignment. Remember that we are all works in process, perfect in our progress and always moving towards our own personal growth and evolution. Remember to laugh at yourself and find humor in the falls (kind of like in the funniest home videos).
Have fun and have a good month!
Blessings.
