"We are about 80% done with principle photography, and are shooting
for a theatrical release by years end or beginning of 2005."

From Jon Gress, the writer/producer/director of the trilogy.
"The trilogy is based on the same ancient texts that Zecharia Sitchin
writes about, so there is some common themes as these are essentially
historic records (interpretations) as opposed to just made up theories.
THe trilogy is "based" on these ancient historic records/tablets but
is a fiction. The first movie in the trilogy is a modern day story
that relates back to the ancient writings/myths..."

"Though I have read Sitchin's work,
I went to the original source material (the Atra Hasis, Enuma Elish,
Gilgamesh Epic, etc...) to get my own interpretations. Though I very
much enjoy Sitchin's work, there were a few major concepts he presents
which didn't much make sense to me so I chose to go to the source
material and take a fresh perspective then to just take what other
researchers have said verbatim.
You are also correct about the movie filter... lol... at least for this
movie in the trilogy. As doing an ancient Sumerian period piece would
be waaaayyy out of the budgetry realm of an independent movie (much
less a big Hollywood movie), I chose to shoot the second in the series
first which is a modern day fiction, but begins to introduce all of the
characters and sets the stage, if you will, for the first movie which
WILL be the ancient tales.
This movie basically begins by hypothisizing on "where would they be
now", as all the ancient stories basically leave off on or around the
time of the Deluge (Noah/Ziasudra Flood). and brings the Anunnaki back
into our modern day picture.
Some of the characters have been modified to take into consideration
thousands of years of mankind's civilazation evolving, their experience
and maturing over the millenia, as well as grudges festering for this
same period of time. Some modifications had to be made to allow the
characters to integrate well into the first and third movie stories as
well as conform to many different original source myths.
It WAS very important to me though to keep the characters, and ancient
texts, carvings, designs, etc... as perfectly intact as possible and to
to just completely re-write what to the best of our knowlege is as much
historic record as the Bible (as much of the Bible was indeed taken
directly from these stories).
It was also very important to me that all 3 stories be completely
different and not just 3 versions of the same movie as many trilogies
are, so each will be a complete story unto its own... then all we have
to do is hope you all enjoy them!"
