I've just recently ordered all three books in this series by Neale Donald Walsch. I finished book one just a while a ago and wow what an impact it had on me. It was so inspirational, enlightening, provocative, useful, helpful and true to my personal experience. Has anyone here read any of his books? According to him he received these expressions of knowledge directly from God and was instructed to translate the material in to book form for those that are ready to read it. Whether or not you actually believe it is the actual word of God or not, it's still great stuff indeed. It's at times conceptually complex and other times profound and eloquent in it's simplicity. It provides detailed answers to typical everyday questions and scenarios that everyone encounters in life and wants to know why it is so? In one part that really moved me, God explained to the author why he was currently struggling so much with money. It explains the powerful effects of affirmations such as "I want money" or "I am in need of money" which are often misunderstood. These declarations are self-defeating as the universe gives you exactly what you're asking for. People would say, "then why don't I have more money"? And the answer can be partially found in the phrasing of your question. You're essentially telling the universe that you ARE in need of money, so that's exactly what you become, IN NEED OF MONEY. A more appropriate statement would be, "I have more money" or "my life will lead me to more money".
There are of course other factors involved as well including what is explained as "sponsoring thoughts" that are basically your underlying beliefs about yourself and life that precede and create your experience as you project them outward. Many people, based on societal standards believe that they are not deserving of more money or that money is "evil". The old black and white use of the terms "right' and "wrong" which only exist in relativity. You must first change these "sponsoring thoughts" or you're affirmations will never work. You're sending the universe mixed messages. In return your financial security will move in ebbs and flows in accordance to your root beliefs. It is also told that we tend to bring in to our lives that which we fear. Many people fear being poor or broke so that's exactly what you'll end up attracting unwittingly in to your life. What one should be doing is not feeding in to those thoughts, not allowing that reality to exist, for your feelings of poverty are subjective and based on perception anyway. How much money is "enough", "not enough" "a lot" or "too much"? Like the applied connotations of "right" and "wrong", it's also relative and therefore non-existent in terms of GOD. God also tells of the importance of thankfulness in gratitude in achieving the desired ends. This however works in a way different than most would believe because most give thanks but only AFTER the expectations are fulfilled. Jesus on the other hand, in his faith that his wishes and desires would be satisfied gave thanks BEFOREHAND in confidence and assurance of God's will to provide. Most people are afraid to do his because they don't wish to make God out to be a liar or inadequate IF their desires aren't eventually granted. In other words, they lack faith in the power of God and therefore this same sense of lack translates in to their personal lives.
God also explains that once we truly remember who we are, we will no longer seek, desire or find comfort in these worldly physical desires. Paradoxically, that's exactly the point in which you'll be most effective in bringing them to yourself should you choose. It's strange, you work so hard to achieve what you want and when you finally get to where you are able to manifest your desires, you find that what you were working so hard to attain ironically becomes no longer of value to you anymore. You'll feel so much unconditional, love and joy in this new state that these other things will become trivial. God even explains the potential dangers of this phase as many once attaining the joys of sprit begin to neglect the body seeing it as no longer important. God reminds that all areas are important as we are the trio of mind, body and sprit, all parts of equal and vital importance to your being. That was just a small part of the book explained in my own words but I really do recommend this book to all for reading from beginning to end. Again, I've only read book one so far but based on that, I don't expect that the others will disappoint.
