The Oneness Conference was born to showcase new thought and teachers; to help them launch their work into the world. As I watched this amazing movie at a private screening in Seattle, I knew Ward Powers and his movie fit perfectly into this vision for the Conference and deserved an opportunity to be launched within the magical space of Sedona. It is with honor and delight that this private screening is added to the activities for the Conference.
The journey of the film
Early one morning, in April, 2002, a middle-aged father of three from Michigan suddenly awoke from a sound sleep, overcome by a strange compulsion... to make a movie.
What made this so strange, is that he was not a film-maker. In fact, he had no training, education or experience whatsoever in the field. So, he immediately called his cousin and best friend to enlist their help with the project. They eagerly agreed.
Problem: They were not film-makers either.
No Problem: About this time, the local PBS station had been airing a series called The Power of Myth, featuring renowned American philosopher Joseph Campbell. This program had a strong impact...they did what Campbell suggested and "followed their bliss."
The Power Of One: The original format for the movie was not initially well defined. Only that it would somehow involve asking a specific set of questions to people from all walks of life to get many perspectives, and this together with a mix of music and images would tell a story.
What was well defined from the outset became the theme of the project: We Are All One. The energy of Oneness would be the force to carry the day.
No experience, no connections, no script, no equipment, no budget ...
no problem.
WHY?
In an increasingly divided world... the power of Oneness is longing to emerge; and it is an energy that the novice film-makers knew would transcend any limitations of those who took-up the cause.
Incredibly, over the next 2 years they were able to gain access to and interview many of leading figures on the world stage of spiritual thought. Renowned authors, religious leaders, celebrities, scholars, and icons opened their doors to the Circle of Bliss team; lending their voices and sharing their wisdom in the cause of ONE.
