Born and raised in NY you'd think I'd feel them as normal, but no. I prefer the warmer climates.

*heehee* RA is MirRA. Welp, I was born on Long Island (mid point of the island almost exactly, on the south shore) and lived there until 20-ish. Moved to MA, tried out TX, CA and came back to LI, decided it still wasn't right for me, so I moved to upstate NY and lived there for another 12 years, then moved to NC, left soon after and lived in AZ for a year, then back to Upstate NY, then back to NC about 4 years ago and feel like staying. Whew! I'm tired, dammit! LOL! |

HA! I knew this too! Where on LI?
I was born in White Plains and lived there til 10 and then moved to Westbury LI for another 10 agoinzing years. Never liked it.
Left NY in '72 and rarely go back but I do go for a jolt once in ahwile and to shop, see a show and eat.

Well, the name of the town is "Great River". No, not "Great Neck". LOL! It's a very small town on the Connetquot River. Actually, I was born in Bayshore and lived my first 12 years in Bohemia - LOL!  Very apropos, no? But we moved to Great River in my 12th year and there my parents still live, on the water. Just beautiful, actually, but unfortunately like an oasis in a desert, it's hell all around them, imo. Less specifically but more understandably, it's Suffolk County, Islip township, south side of the island - Some say it's Eastern LI, but really, if you look at a map, my town is exactly a mid point between east end and west end, just on the south shore.  Most people I meet from LI are either from Nassau County or the North Shore, for some reason.  |
