Lessons in Love
How many of us have had the painful experience of being betrayed, abandoned or hurt by someone we loved? Why is it that sometimes, no matter how much we love someone, it isn't enough to keep the relationship alive? This is a difficult lesson and one that we remember long after it is over. In fact, a painful ending to a relationship can stop us from ever allowing us to experience another one. Why are our lessons in love so difficult? Perhaps it is because it is not a lesson in loving the other person, it's a lesson in loving ourselves.
Difficult relationships don't end suddenly. The announcement of the ending may be a surprise, but there were things leading up to that moment that we knew were issues. When we love someone we can overlook many things. The more we love them, the more we are willing to overlook their behavior. We think it doesn't matter, it will resolve itself or the person will change. What we discover is that it does matter, things have a way of not resolving themselves and people don't change. But when we are blind to the obvious, as we are when we are in love, we make excuses or tell ourselves that love conquers everything. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it can conquer us as well.
The difficult lessons in love are a reflection of how much we love ourselves and value our time, worth and desires. When we, for example, give all of our time and energy to maintain a relationship, we often ignore our own needs. Now we are out of balance and in the middle of a lesson. Do we believe that we must do everything to make this work or can we see ourselves in a relationship in which one partner does not have to sacrifice themselves and it doesn't require constant maintenance? Do we love ourselves to believe that we are worthy of a relationship in which are needs are served instead of ignored?
Lessons in love are all about loving ourselves. If we don't love ourselves, we cannot find someone who will fill that role for us. Instead, we will find someone who will reflect our own lack of self love back to us. When we love ourselves enough to say 'this is not right for me and does not serve me' we do two things, in addition to learning the lesson. First, we acknowledge that we are worthy of having the most wonderful relationship we can imagine and willingly release that which does not meet those criteria. Second, when we let go of that which does not serve us, it is a step of faith and trust in the Universe that allows it to bring us what we want. This week, look at any relationships in your life that do not serve you, bring you joy, or that are unbalanced. Are you happy with the situation? Are you willing to let go out of love for yourself and know that once you do, the Universe will bless you with what you want and you can create the relationship of our dreams.

Are You a Nice Person Some people consider me a nice person, others do not. I am a nice person because I am kind to others, respectful, thoughtful and courteous. Those who do not think I am a nice person have encountered the side of me that has strong boundaries which I protect because I am a nice person with boundaries. I will give and share, but not to the point where it takes all of my time and energy. Many times, I hear clients say "I am a nice person but . . ." and then I hear about how they feel taken advantage of by others, because they are a nice person. Being a nice person does not include allowing others to take advantage of us. Does the definition of being a nice person include being unable to say 'no'?
There will always be people who ask for our time and energy beyond that which is reasonable or acceptable. And it is always our prerogative to decline to help them, give them time or money or help solve their problems. That does not define us as mean, it just establishes our boundaries. And we must have boundaries that define how much time and energy we are willing to give others or we will spend all of our time and energy taking care of others and not able to do anything for ourselves. We can be a nice person and still say 'no' occasionally.
Within the spiritual community, there is a belief that spiritual people have to be nice and that includes being constantly available to everyone for everything. And we feel that if we walk the spiritual path we must help others. Sometimes the best way to help others it to teach them how to help themselves. Being a person who is nice to others means being kind, courteous, considerate and generous. But when that inner warning goes off and says 'this is too much' it is a message to us that our boundaries are being challenged. And when we feel that we are being taken advantage of, we probably are.
How do we stop being taken advantage of and still be a nice person? Consider that the person who is taking advantage of you may be giving you a lesson in creating and maintaining boundaries. And the best way to approach the situation is to tell them, nicely of course, that you have an issue. And then establish your boundaries and keep them intact. Once you have established your boundaries and people know what they are they will respect them. Some may think you're no longer nice, but you will create space in your life for new people who won't challenge your boundaries and will still think that you're a nice person.

Uriel's Message-Who Heals You?
There are many different healing modalities that can take you through the process of healing, but while they will assist in the healing process, they cannot heal you. There are people in your life, part of your soul group, who will bring you the lessons that you need to strengthen your awareness, but they will not heal you. You may arrive at the point where you can no longer accept your life as it is and decide to do things differently and while that is a point of healing, it will not heal you. Your ability to heal yourself occurs at the moment at which you decide to heal.
Healing occurs at a soul level and it happens when the mind and soul are in agreement that healing should happen. That is a powerful moment for you because it means that you decide to free yourself from karma, old wounds, pain, unforgiveness and lack of self-love. While this is very freeing it also brings up its own questions. Once you are healed, you must live your life differently, make different choices, sometimes agree to release partners, relationships and everyone who cannot accept your healing. When you heal you change your vibrational frequency and that affects everyone around you. If they cannot change their vibrational level to match yours, they will be uncomfortable around you and the relationship will end.
This a time when all of humanity has an opportunity to heal but it is a choice that comes with the healing process. No one can agree to heal and then continue to live their life in the same way as before. The healing decision carries much responsibility, as well as many rewards. On a global level, can humanity agree to heal and live in peace? Can you learn to look past gender, race, culture and all of the things that divide you and learn to see everyone as part of the human family? Is it possible for everyone to accept that just as there is no separation between them and the Source, there is also no separation between anyone?
The healing decision is, and always has been, yours. The moment that you decide to heal yourself, you are healed. Everything that you have done and experienced along your path has been part of that process and contributes to creating the acknowledgement that you are ready to let go of a life that does not bring you complete joy. But it is a decision that you make. Once you make it, you are free to live your life differently, free from drama and chaos, accepting your divine right to joy, peace and unconditional love. It is also a reflection of your love and acceptance of yourself, for the healing decision is made out of love for yourself. When you make a decision to heal, you create a vibration that extends over the planet and increases humanity's ability to make the same decision. Then you will bring Heaven on Earth and live the life that is your divine inheritance, filled with peace, love and unconditional joy.

Indigos and the Payoff
There is a new generation of children in the world and they are known by many names, including Indigo and Crystal Children, Star Children, Light Children. Whatever name they are known by, they are a generation that we have never seen before and they have special needs, gifts and talents. The Crystal and Indigo children represent the new, higher energetic patterns that are arriving to change the Earth's vibrational frequency. This new series provides information on these children and the wonderful gifts they bring to the world. Along with their special gifts and talents, they also have certain needs and the purpose of this series is to help them and their parents find solutions to these needs so that Indigos and Crystals can do the work that they came here to do.
Before committing to anything, Indigos often want to know what's in it for them-how do they benefit by fulfilling that request. They're always willing or demanding to negotiate on everything, to the point where it's almost easier to not ask them to do things. They will argue with their parents over the smallest details that seem unimportant to us but are very important to them. On one level they want to ensure that they are effectively utilizing their time and energy. On another level, they don't like doing things that, in their opinion, serve no useful purpose, including satisfying their parents requests. They are able to tell us, for example, that they see no purpose in cleaning their room just to make us happy when they find no problem with the mess-and it's their room.
Finding the benefits in something before they commit themselves is a very useful Indigo skill, one that we could all learn from. How often do we say 'yes' to something, not realizing until later, when it's too late to back out, that we have just overcommitted ourselves to doing something that we don't want to do? Indigos can usually successfully avoid that by using their extraordinary powers of arguing and persuasion which often exasperate their parents and others to the point where they give up in frustration. But there's another way to approach this issue and to get Indigos to do what we want them to and to satisfy their need to understand the payoff. Not in monetary terms, but how it benefits them, makes life better and helps the world in general.
Indigos view much of what we ask them to do as unnecessary and mindless. They have better things to do with their time, even if they are sitting and doing nothing. We must find a balance between insisting that they do what we tell them to do, which is not part of this generation's belief system, and allowing them to do whatever they want. They key is in negotiation and, as I have written many times, communication. Arguing with Indigos is pointless because they can be very argumentative and once they are challenged, they will refuse to do anything out of spite. But if we can show them the value of what we want them to do and negotiate with them, they will gladly do what we ask. Remember that this is the generation who came to upset the status quo, to change the systems. They aren't going to do that by accepting whatever is said to them. Their experiences with their parents are preparing them for what they will be doing when they enter the world of business and politics. While it can be frustrating, it is a necessary part of their growth. So the next time your Indigo child doesn't want to do something, consider what the payoff is and negotiate your terms. You will be dealing with them on their level and the result will be beneficial and less frustrating for both of you.
