Esoteric Astrology for the week of January 11 - 17, 2007
On Edge & Restless
And a Comet Comes into View [/b][/size]
The week's unusual, not unlike the movements of a comet. After the past month's festivals and feast days this week brings complexity, variations and modifications. Mercury & Mars change signs and on Sunday a bright comet, visible at sunset and dawn, veers close to the Sun. Called comet McNaught, it won't hit the Sun like the others have recently, but it will come close emerging just ahead of the rising Sun at dawn. Face east at dawn and west in the evening's twilight to observe the comet, low on the horizon. The tail is long and the comet spectacular when seen through binoculars. Go to spaceweather.com for photos, updates and more information.
Comets, thought by the ancients to bring disaster, doom and disease, have unpredictable and erratic movements. Comets were also considered divine messages from the Gods. Usually comets look like swords blazing across the sky unleashing destruction, storms, floods and frost. Called "divine disasters," perhaps they still do.
The Chinese astronomers kept the most extensive records on the appearance, path and disappearance of comets dating back to the Confucian* Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). China became a Confucian state during the Han Dynasty prospering domestically, agriculturally, culturally and commercially and extending its influence over Korea, Mongolia, Vietnam, & Central Asia. This was the Golden Age of China.
The important study here is *Confucianism which literally means "The School of the Scholars", or "The Teachings of Confucius". Confucianism is a Chinese ethical & philosophical system, developed from the teachings of the Chinese Sage Confucius. Confucianism included moral, social, ethical, political and religious study and thought which has influenced the Chinese civilization up to and including the present time. The Chinese government, understanding the moral implications of this philosophical thought, promoted the values of Confucianism. It is thus considered to have been a state religion of imperial China.
Confucius, (Kong Fu Zi or Master Kong), the renowned teacher, scholar, great Chinese thinker and social philosopher, is thought to have been born September 28th, 551 BC (death 479 BCE). That makes him a Libra, the divine balancer and one of great beauty and order. Confucius is considered to be the "Greatest Master" because of his emphasis upon study and urging his students to think for themselves. Confucius's teachings and philosophy influenced East Asian life, thought, politics and religion. In the Tibetan's book Treatise on Cosmic Fire (p.1079), we read that at a certain time when humanity must reach a greater level of self-realization (identity) "so great is the importance attached to this that a Member of the Lodge, Confucius as he has been called in the past, will incarnate in order to superintend the work." Those familiar with the blue books of the Tibetan (AA Bailey books) know that Confucius was a previous life of Djwhal Khul's.
Question for study: During the periods of time mentioned above, Confucius's birth and the Han Dynasty, what other great teachers came to earth to assist humanity in their education and evolution. What is the spiritual significance of these teachers at that time?

Saturday's Transits
Saturday multiple planets align and are in aspect to each other. Primarily Mars (Ray 6) in the sky conjuncts (joins) Pluto (Ray 1). Astrologically Mars/Pluto alignments signify deep disruptions, interruptions, and explosions. They also convey difficulty, transformation and testing. We may experience volatile, powerful eruptions and disruptions. We may be dismayed by anger that we or others express. This aspect's inherent power can be grasped, used and channeled by us for constructive purposes should we choose the esoteric approach. Or we could be caught by the destructive and cruel approach. We will need to be aware of ourselves and others. Mars/Pluto creates such deep change that there is a reorientation. We will see a financial reorientation in our country this year. Mars is our faith and what we believe in. For many the foundation of their/our value system is money. Pluto is law and politics, destruction and creation. A reorientation of finances means the forces of materialism handing all the resources for world good to the Forces of Light. But, not without great struggle.
The Week On Edge
So as everything, including ourselves, is on edge (especially Saturday), Thursday is unadaptable due to a quincunx (inconjunct, 150 angle) between Mercury (thoughts, talking) and Saturn (discipline, structure & time). Communication Mercury) may seem controlled, rigid (Saturn) and uneasy (inconjunct). Silence, solitude and study are best. Friday there is a change. Venus/Jupiter offer us hope, intelligent hearts and prosperity in large amounts. We are vivified. Saturday we've discussed. Sunday, in the evening, we'll need to be cautious. Monday Mercury (Ray 4), our true divine messenger, enters Aquarius (Ray 5), sign of freedom, liberation, friendship and love. We're restless. Tuesday Mars (Ray 6), entering Capricorn, informs us to shoulder responsibility, structure, and discipline. This will continue for two months. Wednesday is rebellious, bold and a surprise for everyone.
