This guide is based on astrological influences. Its purpose is to assist you
in making the best use of current energies, not to predict events. Your unique
experience will be most defined by transits to your personal chart.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR MAY 3-9, 2004:
Tuesday: Pluto trine Mercury, LUNAR ECLIPSE/Full Moon 1:33pm, Jupiter goes
Direct 8:07pm
Wednesday: Neptune square Sun
Friday: Mars enters Cancer, Jupiter opposite Vesta
Saturday: Saturn trine Vesta
We have another major astrological event this week, in the form of Tuesday's
Lunar Eclipse. This eclipse is directly opposite the point of the Harmonic
Concordance Eclipse on November 8, 2003, and so triggers the same degrees in our
charts. Whatever opening or awareness we experienced in that time frame is now
being built upon and redefined.
We may also find that we are challenged to confront deeper motivations with
this current eclipse, and to refine our actions and interactions so that they
more clearly reflect our values. Something we thought we cared deeply about is
going through metamorphosis. It's time to discover what aspects of our desires
are worth holding onto, and which are ready to be discarded.
This eclipse is in Scorpio, the sign associated with death and the rebirth
that always follows. In the fall, when the Sun is in Scorpio, the trees release
their leaves, which then decay and disintegrate. Intellectually, we understand
that nothing ever truly disappears, that this "dis-integration" is actually
"in-tegration," meaning that the leaf particles become integrated with the
soil. The physical matter is transformed into material that is then used by the
same trees for nourishment.
Nothing is ever lost; it only changes form.
That may seem like a good-news, bad-news kind of statement. If nothing is
ever lost, that's a nice truth to remember when we confront the passing of
something or someone we cherish. It's less attractive when we're thinking about
habits or patterns that we're trying to get rid of.
It's one reason why "pushing something away" doesn't work - especially if
it's an aspect of ourselves we'd like to change. In order to accomplish the
transformation, we have to go through both a "dis-integration" and an
"in-tegration." The first step is acknowledging that it's time to let go of something. The
next step is to appreciate the benefits and pay-offs you gained from it, and
to find new, healthier means of achieving the same (or similar) results. Then
the process of re-integration occurs, as you gradually become comfortable with
the new thoughts and perspectives.
With this eclipse, we're all redefining some area of our lives, figuring out
what really matters and how to realign with what we value most. What have you
been striving towards recently? What are the feelings you expect to have once
you're there? Try to find the essence of what you really want. It may be
freedom, or joy, or a greater sense of being alive, or peace, or _______________
(fill in the blank). If your quest has not yet born fruit, is there some core
value you have that you've been ignoring, that's actually blocked your
achievement in this area? Are there better ways to incorporate those desired qualities
into your life?
Both Neptune and Jupiter are strong players in this eclipse, as Neptune
squares both the Sun and the Moon, and Jupiter stations direct within hours of the
exact eclipse. Neptune helps in the dissolving process, helping us focus on
spiritual-level outcomes rather than practical-world results. Jupiter amplifies
the sense of possibility, positivity, and adventure.
Jupiter has been retrograde (moving backwards) since January 3, giving us
four months' time to review our personal life philosophy. Our search for meaning
has been supported more through internal growth than through external
developments. We've also had opportunities to redefine and refocus on what supplies us
with hope and optimism, the two most important building blocks in any
creation. Once Jupiter is moving forwards again, we'll be ready to expand, having
established that internal foundation to build upon.
(An astrological note, for those who are interested: Perhaps this is why the
recent Mercury retrograde was so potent. Jupiter was also retrograde, and in
the sign of Virgo, which is traditionally ruled by Mercury. So there was a
double-whammy set up, so to speak...)
My best thoughts and hopes are with you on this eclipse week. Go jolly!
