June 2006 Celestial Timings


Wow!!! This is an powerful pivotal month within this pivotal year with
the 19 year Lunar Standstill reaching its exact center point this
month when the Nodal Axis arrives at zero Aries/Libra at the Summer
Solstice, plus Pluto is still near Galactic Center and the fixed Grand
Cross that has been active most of the year is coming into exact
alignment this month at the Summer Solstice. Certainly it will be
interesting to see what transpires in personal and world events. The
best way to be with all of this is to pay attention to what your
intentions are and to continue practicing self-forgiveness, self-care,
and self-love because green trees make a green forest or said another
way loving caring people create a loving caring world.



With that in mind and taking my own advice (prompted in part by my
Chiron Return and my own health and well-being on the line as I am
still recuperating from the intensity of the Pluto cycle and all the
changes that has been bringing into my life) I am taking June and July
off and will not be available for readings or mentoring sessions until

Once upon a time the Gods divided up the Earth between them. They
produced a native race of good men and gave them suitable political
arrangements. Their names have been preserved but what they did has
been forgotten because of the destruction of their successors and the
long lapse of time. For as we said before, the survivors of this
destruction were an unlettered mountain race who had just heard the
names of the rulers of the land but knew little of their achievements.
They were glad enough to give their names to their own children, but
they knew nothing of the virtues and institutions of their
predecessors, except for a few hazy reports; for many generations they
and their children were short of bare necessities, and their minds and
thoughts were occupied with providing for them, to the neglect of
their earlier history and tradition. For an interest in the past and
historical research came only when communities had leisure and when

Da Vinci Code

Synchronistically aligned with the power of this year 2006, maximizing
the Solstices now aligned along the Galactic Plane, Pluto at Galactic
Center this year and next in its 248 year cycle and being at the
center point of the 3 year Lunar Standstill window or "out of bounds"
Moon where the Moon is occulting the Galactic Center and the Galactic
Edge for three days each month, is the release of the long awaited Da
Vinci Code movie amidst a lot of controversy and not so great reviews.
However, this movie is amazingly activating for those who are open to
receive the codes of consciousness and awakening information through
the visual experience this movie evokes. When Tom Hanks gets down on
bended knee at the end in honor of the Divine Feminine, Sangreal
(Royal Bloodline) or Holy Grail it is one of the most moving and
powerful images of the brilliant caring masculine principle honoring
the long suppressed power of the feminine with a long overdue sense of
returning balance of these energies. The opening of this movie in most
places around the world could have hardly been timed more perfectly as
May 19 was in the window of the Mayan "days of no shadows" when the
Sun and Pleiades were aligned and codes of information were being
illuminated through that stargate as well.





Lunar Standstill and the Great Shining Ones

This year and next on the Isle of Lewis, in Scotland at the ancient
Standing Stone Circles of Callanish the Moon walks the land once again
activating the ancient prophecy that says; When the Moon walks on the
land, at the calling of the cuckoo, the Shining Ones will return."
Mythically we remember the Great Shining Ones are from the stars (the
Pleiades, Ursa Major or the Big Dipper, and Sirius etc). They were the
wise ones - the Magi - master builders who erected the standing stone
circles and other megalithic sites around the world for the purpose of
energizing and anchoring a crystalline grid connecting the Earth to
the super computer of our intergalactic space-time grid. These days
the galactic gateway is on the forefront of our experience as the
Solstices are now aligned along the galactic plane for the first time
in 13,000 years and Pluto is now aligned with Galactic Center for the
first time in 248 years.



Remnants of the knowledge and skill left by the Great Shining Ones
remain in the sacred sites they left behind and in the ceremonies
still performed from ancient times that honor and activate these
mysteries within these sacred sites. Some of the ceremonies honoring
the Solstice, Equinoxes and Cross-Quarter times as well as the 19 year
Lunar Standstill and other events are still known and often practiced
today.

One example is the lighting of the fires in the Stone Circles and
places of power reminding the people to remember and renew our
awareness of the mysteries the Great Shining Ones left us. These
Shining Ones have been known to return at certain times especially
when they are called.



The Callanish Standing Stones, Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, Chitzen Itza,
the Egyptian Pyramids, and many other sacred sites around the world
figure prominently on the planetary crystalline grid. The main sites
at Callanish, have an astonishing orientation to the 19 year Lunar
Standstill and are designed to amplify and anchor these energies
sending them through the crystalline grid in a continuous rhythmic
pulse each month when the Moon is crossing Galactic Center so that
these energies or incoming galactic vibrations cover the entire Earth
further awakening all life. The Lunar Standstill galactic download is
felt most strongly when the Moon is in late degrees of Sagittarius or
early degrees of Capricorn and in late Gemini and early Cancer every
month but most especially when the Moon is near Full. There are six
days each month within this window actively amplifying the incoming
galactic energies. This activation began in 2005 and is occurring for
all of 2006 and all of 2007 with the 2006 June and July Full Moons at

Over the next couple of years (and especially during the Full Moons of
June and July of 2006) it is worth our time to visit these sacred
sites when ever possible to further participate in the great awakening
and transformation that is occurring. However, you do not have to
visit sacred sites to receive the gifts of these transformative
energies. All you need do is have the intention to receive and amplify
the energy wherever you are.

Special Note: There are so many profound Celestial Events taking place
these days it is challenging to give them all proper voice. The events
taking place in the Great Above help to inform us about what is taking
place in the Great Below. When we remember we inform the mysteries as
much as they inform us then we also remember it is helpful to know
what these events are so we can more consciously participate in
informing the unfolding mysteries through our intention and attention.



However, more important than knowing all the details of so many
amazing events in a mental way is to take time to tune in and get your
own guidance and sense of what these Times are about for you. Any one
of the ways I am sharing with the Celestial Timings or ways others are
sharing through their channeling and personal insights about these
Celestial Events can be useful as a place to begin accessing our own
conscious relationship with the incoming energies. It helps to
remember that the mind can not know it all but we can feel into what
is unfolding and trust our inner guidance is supporting us in
successfully navigating these rapidly growing, changing, evolving
times even if it doesn't always appear that way on the surface. It is
important to find your own tools and your own way through these times,
however I will share that some of the best navigational tools I am
finding include self-forgiveness, self-love, loving kindness and
compassion for our transformational journey.





June 1, Thursday. June starts with the Moon in Leo again emphasizing
the importance of practicing self-forgiveness and self-love. True
self-forgiveness and forgiveness of others is the singly most powerful
thing we can do to heal ourselves. Practicing daily self-forgiveness
until we feel we have fully forgiven ourselves for every possible way
we might judge ourselves speeds us along the path toward total genuine
self-love.

or harmed others in anyway.

June 2, Friday. The waxing Moon moves into Virgo passing near Regulus
today visible just beyond Regulus tonight. Regulus is the heart of the
Lion and one of the four royal stars, watcher of the North, and linked
with Archangel Raphael whose specialty is healing. The healing
energies of Regulus and the mysteries of the Virgo Moon, transmitting
ancient knowledge of the healing patterns within the web that can
transform any imbalances in our vibrational expression, further
illuminates the possibilities of the changes already in progress.
Spider Woman weaves the web of life utilizing all the wisdom gained
from the past keeping in mind the possibilities of even greater
harmony and wholeness that is yet to manifest.



June 3, Saturday. The Virgo First quarter Moon (13 Virgo 13) builds on
the healing energies already being transmitted and Mercury is moving
into Cancer as Mars is moving into Leo actively (Mars) engaging the
information and knowing (Mercury in Cancer) that helps us to create
our reality around healthy, radical, radiant Self-Love (Leo). Actively
practicing self-forgiveness powerfully transforms the wounds of
self-judgment and self-punishment.

know and have judged myself as not good enough or not worthy of life.



June 4, Sunday - The waxing Virgo Moon is at Perigee or its closest
approach to Earth in this lunar cycle affecting the tides and possibly
our emotions. Venus (7 Taurus) squares Saturn (7 Leo) challenging us
to pay attention to the forms of beauty we encounter and the forms of
beauty we create everyday intended to inspire our ability to love
ourselves and to savor and enjoy the blessings of life. Ralph Waldo

This is the month of daylilies, lilacs, and roses in my garden, summer
vacation and playing on the river, and a wild full moon that rises so
far to the south that it baffles the mind. But then, the planetary
life force is resonating in Gemini, which loves anything mind-blowing.
During most of this month, the sun hangs out in the lively, playful,
constantly changing archetype of Gemini. Lest we become too fixed or
earth-bound, Trickster mixes things up, sweeps us through wide
experience, cross-pollinates ideas and energies, lightens us through
humor, teaches or shares information through stories, and frees the
mind through irrationality that allows it to transcend duality and
experience true BEING.

Add to this Mercury in the evening sky at its greatest northern
declination all year at Galactic Anti-Center (June 1 - 3) followed by
its highest apparition all year for mid-northern latitudes (June 15),
so that it emerges at sunset in the western sky farther north and
higher than normal and-and we may expect the unexpected. Mercury in
the evening sky is known mythically as Hermes the Magician, the
unpredictable Trickster and creative mind-and it is out-of-bounds and
farther from the sun than any other evening phase of Mercury this
year. Wow! An iconic story about Hermes involves his infamous theft of
Apollo's (aka Mercury Morning Star, radiant teacher with his sacred
teachings) cows, so remember: nothing, not even the sacred cows are
safe.!

Sacred Chao (pronounced 'cow') comes out of Discordianism, which
adherents themselves describe as "a religion disguised as a joke
disguised as a religion." It's a whacky, irreverent view of reality
that celebrates disharmony and chaos as equally valid to harmony and
order. The Principia Discordia, primary sacred text of Discordianism
written by 'Malaclypse the Younger,' opens thus: "we are a tribe of
philosophers, theologians, magicians, scientists, artists, clowns, and
similar maniacs who are intrigued by Eris Goddess of Confusion and
with Her Doings." Eris is famous for having tossed the golden apple
inscribed "To the Fairest" into the banquet of the gods, which started
the goddesses' quarrel that spawned the Trojan War.

All philosophies and religions are understood as windows on reality,
relationships with chaos that seek to generate order, that aren't
inherently any more correct than any other window (or lack of window).

Needless to say, Discordianism is both a major ode to the spirit of
Hermes Mercury and a fabulous antidote to the Saturn superego, which
is mythologized in the Discordian legend of Greyface, who cursed the
human race to a life of serious and gloomy order. "The unfortunate
result of this is that mankind has since been suffering from a
psychological and spiritual imbalance. Imbalance causes frustration,
and frustration causes fear. And fear makes for a bad trip. Man has

But not all the energies this month are aimed at tipping over the
cosmic coffee pots. .Or maybe they are! The constellation Sagittarius,
which marks Galactic Center, is also known as The Coffeepot. The moon
continues its Lunar Extreme activations, rising twice a month (all
this year) farther north and south than at any other time in the past
nineteen years. Ordinarily, the 19-year Lunar Extremes correspond to
times of community renewal when we "dream the dream forward," update
the operating manual for society, and bring forward new ways of being
and doing in the world. But since we are at a unique time in the
26,000 year equinox precessional cycle, these extreme out-of-bounds
moons align each month with Galactic Center and Galactic Anti-Center,
an alignment made even more significant by the fact that the sun
itself never precisely intersects Galactic Center which lies 5.5
degrees off the ecliptic (the sun's path through the sky). But the
moon, during its extreme southern and northern journeys, does. All
this infuses the current work of community renewal with an intense
underworld dimension-facing the shadow, surrender, annihilation of all
that no longer serves, transformation, and empowerment. While the
questions around healthy structures for the ongoing survival of
humanity have taken on intense and catastrophic overtones, there is
also intense reason for hope, for the information seeded during these
lunar extremes is an answer to the huge challenges we face. From the
highest perspectives, galactic intelligence is giving us the
information we need to come into a profound state of harmony as a
planet. And this month, the full moon rises farther south than any
other full moon this year, aligned with Galactic Center and Pluto!
--This is an EXTREME FULL MOON--transmitting blessings and solutions
to a troubled planet, and catalyzing catharsis and transformation.

With Pluto, God of the Underworld, aligned longitudinally with
Galactic Center (although 13° north by declination) throughout 2006
and 2007 for the first time in 250 years, the pressures for planetary
evolution are intense. All the big questions are up and having to go
through the crucible to refine them to their essences. It's a major
hotpoint in the Turning of the Ages solstice alignment with the
galactic plane that's super amplified now and through the fall by
Jupiter in Scorpio. As with any underworld activation, the prime
factor is a subjective sense of intensity that may or may not manifest
in any kind of "hellish" objective reality, but that's just "grinding
people down, regardless of their level of attainment," as Daniel
recently put it.

Additionally, this month Mars and Saturn in the evening sky precisely
intersect the Beehive Cluster M44 (Saturn June 5 and Mars June 15), a
region of intense star birth. This, together with the out-of-bounds
full moon, really empowers the energies for birthing new structures
this month.*The final chapter in the Human Genome project has just
been published - May 18, 2006. "The international Human Genome Project
- often described as the 'book of life' - was launched with the aim of
finding and detailing the genes in our cells that drive all the body's
biochemical reactions." (BBC News Article.) See the published paper in
the science journal, Nature. Incidentally, the research was presented
for publication in December 2005, after Saturn had completed its first
transit of the Beehive Cluster earlier in the fall. Those on the front
lines of this work are simultaneously receiving all new inspiration in
the call to lead the way to human planetary wholeness at perhaps
higher octaves than since the dawn of recorded history-while having to
continually surrender attachment to outcomes.

The Sacred Masculine and Sacred Feminine, the animus and anima, Mars
and Venus-undergo intriguing initiations this month. Mars in the
Evening Sky is envisioned as the Hero on the Quest undergoing a series
of tests or challenges during his 10-month trek across the sky to meet
the sun. He spends most of this month in the 7th Trial, which began
May 30 with a dramatic line-up between Mars to the (left) southeast,
the out-of-bounds moon in the middle, and the stars Castor and Pollux
to the northwest (right) at 27 Cancer. This presents a challenge for
the Hero to open his heart or commit to some sort of healing or
nurturing task. Castor and Pollux, the two main stars of the Twins
(aka Gemini to astronomers), have traditional associations with both
the easy-flowing (Castor) and tortured (Pollux) dimensions of the
creative process. Saturn nearby activates a serious attitude, focused
hard work, and wisdom. The combination has the texture of a Herculean
creative response to a genuine need for care and healing that may be
specifically keyed to the work of healing the world with this
out-of-bounds moon.

Venus in the Morning Sky is also understood in mythic terms as the
goddess undergoing trial-and-error life experiences to define who she
really is, facet by facet, through a series of seven conjunctions with
the waning crescent moon in the morning sky (this year, maybe eight
conjunctions, a rare underworld event). Venus spends most of this
month in the 4th Gate heart chakra initiation (which began May 24),
understood as a shamanic initiation into the heart through tests and
trials to awaken and define her love. In Aries (where the alignment
occurred) the process involves catalytic experiences of courage and
conviction to discover her flaming heart. Venus squared Mars and
trined Pluto at this gate, suggesting a major activation around sexual
and romantic love. With vivid aliveness as the key into the authentic
heart in the Morning Star phase, any love relationships that drain her
life force must be surrendered. Those with sensitive points near
24Aries may receive this initiation in some way, though the
opportunity is far more powerful for those also born during the same
synodic Venus cycle (Capricorn/Aquarius overtone) or with Venus in
Capricorn. Go to June 23 (Last Crescent phase) and 28 (First Crescent
phase) to read more about Venus and Mars.

Meanwhile, the tee-square between Saturn and Mars in Leo, Jupiter in
Scorpio, and Chiron in Aquarius colors the whole month- Venus in
Taurus joins the tea party to make a Grand Cross for the first half of
June. The energies are big, audacious, prestigious, focused,
passionate, tender OR crisis and breakdown as egos clash and tempers
flare and the goddess gets caught in the fray! Those with sensitive
points near early to middle degrees Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius and Taurus
will probably feel the pressure/activation of the Grand Cross in some
way. In the end of May and beginning of June, healing and alchemical
wisdom (Sun exact trines Chiron May 30) as well as glamour and sudden
unpredictable change (Sun exact squares Uranus June 5) headline the
activation. In early June through the last week of the month, lovely
inspiration and celestial grace soften the edges as the energy goes
deeper, perhaps evoking catharsis, shadowy confrontations, or
intensity and passion (Sun exact trines Neptune June 10 and exact
opposes Pluto June 16). When the Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Chiron
tee-square comes to near perfect precision on June 19, it's as if the
boy scouts of the solar system must collaborate on some high-stakes
project to manifest alchemical wisdom, distill an elixir, or conquer a
challenge. When the sun trines Jupiter toward the end of the month
(exact June 30), wishes may be fulfilled or audacious over-expansion
redeemed or forgiven.

Author's Note: In the total overwhelm of Jupiter in Scorpio, I've had
to re-think my approach to writing the Timings. And yet, what began as
a survival tactic-to reduce the burden by not writing something for
each and every day this month-has become a deeper re-orientation to
the core philosophy of Shamanic Astrology. This is not predictive
astrology, and yet writing something for each day of the month has
seduced me, as I'm sure it has some of you, into looking at the
Celestial Timings as a forecast. Cayelin has said many times that
prediction is not the intent of the Celestial Timings. Rather, we want
to give each of you an opportunity to participate in the great As
Above, So Below multi-dimensional, multi-cosmic, fractal hologram in
which we live and love and dance and die.

It also became clear, as I struggled to pinpoint certain moments in
the moon cycle to specific calendar days, how arbitrary our day
divisions sometimes are to the organic reality we experience with the
sky. Never fear: I will still reference calendar days, but have chosen
to focus on the moon cycle as a whole, while referencing interesting
days in the calendar month of June.

June Moon Cycles ● ● ● ● ● ●

The moon cycles are natural rhythms of emptiness and fullness, cycles
that offer optimal times for planting seeds, growing them to fruition,
harvesting efforts, and reflecting on the journey. They are the most
easily-observable, fast-moving, cyclical phenomenon besides that of
the progress from day to night, and all ancient peoples had an
intimate relationship with the moon. I invite you to watch the moon
and to come to know its faces.

Those of you who know the moon phase in which you were born may
participate at a deeper personal level by tracking your own moon phase
each month. This natal moon phase, be it the waxing crescent or the
disseminating or last quarter moon, is your own personal "new moon,"
also known as the natal sun-moon angle and a fantastic time to begin
projects. Your "full moon" is the moon phase directly opposing it in
the lunar cycle and this personal moon cycle interacts with the
universal one in interesting ways. For example, I've noticed that as
soon as the moon enters the phase in which I was born (waning moon),
the upcoming moon phase's aspirations and concerns seem to get
activated, even though the universal New Moon hasn't even happened yet.

I believe that although each cycle has a linear structure-a beginning,
middle, and end-that it also has a holographic nature, with each
portion of the cycle informing every other portion. So that, for
example, the First Crescent archetypes might play out linearly for
someone moving in alignment with the lunar cycle (i.e. some sort of
magical assistance shows up between May 28 and June 1), but those
archetypes also remain accessible throughout the cycle as helping
energies. Likewise, a cycle's aspirations and pitfalls seem to get
activated as soon as the cycle begins even though they haven't
happened yet in a linear sense. The bottom line is that it seems valid
to study the whole cycle rather than just taking it a day at a time.
The moon cycle that dominates most of June began May 26, 2006 in
Gemini (read May Celestial Timings for more detail).



New Moon Friday May 26 (and Saturday May 27) in Gemini and out-of-bounds

The Call to Adventure. Here in the dark moon, the unplanted and
fertile ground awaits new seeds or new projects, a new quest beckons
the hero/ine. Sometimes we gladly undertake the journey, sometimes we
get dragged kicking and screaming, and other times we stumble into our
adventures.

This whole moon cycle energizes endeavors that are far out, crazy and
creative. With Pluto at the Full Moon position, power and
transformation, deep catharsis and surrendering/letting go will take
you everywhere this month as well as acting as the lure for all
ludicrous leaps into silly/crazy and creative Gemini territories
(shouting Holy Chao?). Communication projects also get a major boost.
This New Moon occulted the Pleiades, an invisible event lost in the
glare of the sun (making it all the more powerful), and one that
perhaps evokes a longing for beauty or spiritual origins this moon
cycle. To many, the Pleiades star cluster represents a stargate or
doorway home, and the home of the Dove. See June's Last Crescent phase
for more on the Pleiades.



First Crescent Sunday May 28 to Thursday June 1 in Gemini, Cancer at
the Lunar Extreme, and Leo

Breaking Open of Seeds. The first crescent phase of the moon, which we
experience from the first time we see a fingernail moon in the early
evening sky east of the sun until it no longer looks like a crescent,
stirs the seeds to break open. Energetically, this is still a great
time to begin anything. Mythically, this phase brings magical helpers
- the Fairy Godmother with her amulets or blessings, the witch with
her secret knowledge, the old man selling his magic beans...
Astrologically, the energies present during this phase are helpful
throughout the quest.

That the galactic anti-center alignment occurs (27Gemini, May 28) and
the moon reaches its extreme (0Cancer, May 28) during the first
crescent phase-suggests that an extraordinary approach, a radically
open-minded willingness to face the Shadow and transform the ego with
some sense of humor as well as kindness, wisdom, endurance and radical
solutions for birthing healthy structures-will provide some of the
most useful energies this month. May 30's lunar alignment with Mars in
Cancer initiated the 7th Heroic trial (refer to June overview for
more), adding the animus/sacred masculine as another magical helper
this month. Some of us may experience a person or persons who embody
these attitudes and show up as helpers for us; others of us may need
to activate these intentions within.

Later in the first crescent phase, the moon moves into Leo conjunct
Saturn and forms a Grand Cross with Jupiter, Chiron and Venus (May
31) before opposing Neptune while trining Pluto (June 1). This adds
the notion that dignity and self-love will also be of help this month,
as well as faith, humility, alchemical wisdom, and the willingness to
receive. The audacious, glamorous, beautiful, and vulnerable energies
of the Grand Cross act as part of the lure for the hero/ine to
undertake the quest. Neptune's compassionate or beautiful inspiration
adds its influence, like a heavenly choir calling out advice and
encouragement. The Pluto trine implies that even if these helpful
inspirations prove illusory (as Neptune so often does), that they will
still catalyze valid transformation and psychological growth.

Mercury near its northern extreme (out-of-bounds) and going over the
galactic anti-center alignment opposite Pluto adds the notion that
radically liberated ways of perceiving and understanding, and a
willingness to confront the Shadow and transform the mind will be
equally useful this month. Synchronicity may manifest opportunities
now to demonstrate this capacity through confrontations with persons
in power.



First Quarter Friday June 2 - Sunday June 4 in Virgo

Crossing the Threshold. Many people call this the half-moon with its
half-pie shape, and while waxing we see it most of the day east of the
sun. At sunset, it emerges high overhead and sets around midnight.
Mythically, the hero/ine can still refuse the Quest and go no further
or here must cross the threshold into a zone of magnified power and
accelerated growth.

This month, the gatekeepers are Virgo and Uranus with Venus'
assistance. Virgo brings the moon to align just above (north) the
bright star Regulus, the Heart of the Lion on June 2, and requires a
fine appreciation of perfect timing and sacred order to cross the
threshold - imagine James Bond ducking the swinging pendulum or
cracking the code to the inner sanctum. Venus trines the moon at the
beginning of the phase, channeling support from the anima or sacred
feminine - maybe a Bond girl tosses him the combination. Uranus then
opposes the moon, infusing the Virgo High Priest/ess archetype with
more glamour than usual and perhaps shoving the hero/ine across the
threshold or ensuring that this step is a radical shift of the
assemblage point - Leap! And the net will appear! .Holy cow, where'd
all those ball players come from? This energy signature of change here
at the Threshold gets doubled and tripled because both Mars and
Mercury change sign archetypes on June 3 (Mars moves into Leo and
Mercury into Cancer-the Hero is ennobled and Trickster is sobered),
and Mercury reaches its northern extreme on June 4 (in early degrees
Cancer). With Hermes Mercury out-of-bounds, the collective mental body
is juggling teapots and zinging arrows from the rafters.who knows what
to expect? The moon reaches apogee at 63.4 earth-radii, farther from
the earth than any other time this month, a few hours before midnight
on the 4th.



Waxing Gibbous Monday June 5 - Friday June 9 in Libra and Scorpio

The Belly of the Whale. The moon has swelled to the luminous lopsided
shape known as the gibbous moon, visible in the east before sunset and
illuminating the night sky until a few hours before dawn. This stage
of the heroic journey marks the stage past the point-of-no-return
where the only way out is through, and when obstacles and trials of
every kind arise to test the hero/ine.

At the beginning of the road of trials and tests, the Libra moon
conjuncts the south node, reflecting the natural challenges that arise
from archaic notions of Consensus Reality toward any zany or
irreverent undertaking, especially one that's (consciously or
unconsciously) seeking cathartic transformation. Old relationships or
ideals also get triggered. That Saturn makes its precise conjunction
with the Beehive Cluster on this first day of the waxing gibbous lays
a sub-theme of building and birthing new structures to the road of
trials and tests. On Tuesday, June 6, a loose grand trine between the
moon, sun, and Chiron is followed by a tighter grand trine between the
moon, sun, and Neptune. The Alchemist/Wounded Healer and Angelic
Realm cheer the hero/ine through his/her tests, perhaps offering a
healing balm and inspirational or celestial support to mitigate the
stresses that follow. Venus, however, is in the thick of her precise
squares to both Saturn and Chiron, perhaps generating crisis and
frustration or delay or calling for wisdom and vulnerability here in
the Belly of the Whale. Wednesday and Thursday, June 7 and 8, a grand
cross with the moon/Jupiter in Scorpio, Venus in Taurus, Mars/Saturn
in Leo and Chiron in Aquarius dominates the sky. Now the energies that
lured the hero/ine out on the Quest become overwhelming, throwing up
major stresses to test faith, courage, compassion, beauty, and serious
commitment. June 7 the moon occults Spica, the wheat sheaf in the arms
of the Virgin Priestess (aka Virgo to astronomers). Some sources
equate Spica with new knowledge and brilliance. The moon occultation
seems to add a punctuation mark to the sense of high stakes this
month. The June 9 moon in Scorpio asks for passionate aliveness in
passing through the trials and tests of the Quest.



Full Moon Saturday June 10 - Monday June 12 in Sagittarius and
Capricorn at the Lunar Extreme

Mystical Marriage, Apotheosis. Although the precise Full Moon occurs
on June 11, we experience it as full for approximately three days, its
round glowing orb rising near sunset to illuminate the night with
day-like brilliance. The full moon teaches us something about
planetary oppositions-here at opposition to the sun, the moon attains
its full-blown manifestation. Mythically, the hero/ine has reached the
goal in gnosis and connection with the divine, and receives a gift to
bring back to the world. Seeds planted near the end of May come to
fruition now.

Traditionally, the full moon at this time of year is known as the
"Rose Moon." On June 10, the round moon rises an hour before sunset
very near the bright red star Antares, known as the Heart of the
Scorpion, near 10°Sagittarius, having occulted it before moonrise, an
event only visible in South America and Africa. It trines Saturn and
Mars and has moved out-of-bounds to the south. That the sun precisely
trines Neptune tonight implies the blessings of the Life Force and the
celestial realm upon the aspirations of this moon cycle. The feeling
of magical beauty may swell to full as the celestial realm invites the
initiate into communion. June 11, the moon reaches precise full at the
farthest southern declination for any full moon all year long, and
aligns precisely with Pluto and Galactic Center in the evening in late
degrees Sagittarius. This is the full moon that the ancients would
likely have celebrated in high ceremony, riding the wave of community
renewal in dreaming the dream forward.

This mega-full moon goes very deep, but remains somewhat sensible,
with the Saturn/Mars trine on the first day of the full moon setting
good boundaries and grounding realizations into the physical and into
a plan for action. The full moon realization this month has everything
to do with innovative, out-of-bounds perspectives on truth, meaning,
the depths of the psyche and what's needed for transformation. This
lunar cycle may hold within it profound revelations that revolve
around a crisis of faith or some other underworld element, but if so,
these provide the unique and necessary medicine to provoke evolution
at this time. Surrender, which is defined as deeply accepting the
truth as opposed to giving up in defeat, provides space for the heart
to open to receive the truth and a new freedom in which to act.

June 12 the moon might be considered borderline waning gibbous, and
reaches its extreme southern declination a little after sunrise. It
moves into Capricorn, crystallizing the insights of the full-moon,
with the potential for radical knowledge, wisdom and new structures.



Waning Gibbous Tuesday June 13 - Friday June 16 in Capricorn
out-of-bounds, Aquarius and Pisces

The Return Journey. The moon returns to its lopsided gibbous shape,
the Disseminating Moon rising well after sunset and, at sunrise,
remaining visible in the western sky until mid-morning. The swelling
of energies at the full moon begins to subside. Mythically, the
hero/ine begins the journey back to the ordinary (daylight) world with
the gift of the full moon encounter. Is s/he fleeing like Jack down
the beanstalk or does s/he come as an emissary of the transcendental
powers?

During the first part of the return journey phase, the moon in
Capricorn remains out-of-bounds. It makes sense that innovative kinds
of wisdom or devotion would be needed to bring back any full moon
insight that began with a crazy-creative impulse and arrived at some
sort of out-of-bounds depth encounter. Saturn and Mars line up on
either side of the center of the Beehive Cluster (M44) about one
degree apart from each other, dramatically demonstrating that it's
still about concrete contributions to the "operating manual" at the
Turning of the Ages. The Return Journey moon opposes Hermes Mercury,
suggesting a mythic battle of wits with Trickster before s/he can
pass. Is it the monkey mind within or a manifest adversary? June 14,
the moon moves into Aquarius where it passes by Chiron, opposes
Mars/Saturn, and squares Jupiter. The Chiron-Jupiter-Mars/Saturn
tee-square is just preparing to move into very tight orb. Do the
players present an obstacle to the moon hero/ine in her return or do
they help? Perhaps the essential transaction, that she must take their
medicine to pass (practicality, confidence, faith, courage, alchemical
wisdom and humility)-can seem like an obstacle or a help depending on
her perspective. June 15 the moon passes Neptune in loose trine to the
sun, the planets who cast their blessings upon the recent full moon.
Psychic insight, some last powerful inspiration or angelic guidance
may offer the final major assistance to the returning hero/ine before
the moon moves into Pisces and prepares to cross the threshold at
perigree-at 57.8 earth-radii the moon is closer than it comes all
month. Mercury also reaches its highest apparition in the evening sky,
at its best visibility all year per Sky & Telescope Magazine. June 16
the sun exactly opposes Pluto, bringing the God of the Underworld into
full manifestation and closer to the earth than any other time this
year. Shiver me timbers!! Those undergoing Pluto initiation right now
with sensitive points from 24-27° Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, or
Virgo, may feel the Dark Night of the Soul very deeply this week.
Amateur astronomers with 8" or greater aperture telescopes enjoy their
best chance to see it all year, gazing out along the galactic axis.



Last Quarter Saturday June 17 - Monday June 19 in Pisces and Aries

Crossing the Threshold. The moon returns to its half-moon shape,
rising near midnight and moving into the west to set around midday.
Energetically, we have reached the stage of reaping what we've sown.
Mythically, the hero/ine crosses the threshold to return to the
ordinary world with gifts and knowledge to share.

The Threshold guardians this month are Uranus, Pisces, Pluto, Aries
and the North Node, with assistance from Mercury and Mars/Saturn. As
with last month, Uranus at the return threshold gets occulted by the
moon, bringing sweeping energies of change at the completion stage of
the lunar cycle. Additionally, Uranus is moving very slow right now,
preparing to turn retrograde. Old brittle structures are beginning to
stress and fracture. Perhaps the intentions and realizations of the
whole cycle get turned on their head or tossed out, or the hero/ine's
return across the threshold presents a radical shift of the assemblage
point for his/her community. In Pisces and trine Mercury, the mind is
given clarity in the transcendent realms (meditation will help to
connect this potential), and an attitude of compassion and a
willingness to flow with higher sources of inspiration will help
greatly in reaping the fruits of this month's lunar cycle.

June 18 the moon squares Pluto and the sun and then moves into Aries
to conjunct the North Node. It only makes sense that this month's
radical journeys would bring the hero/ine into confrontation with
Power upon returning to the world - his/her own power or external
persons of power. It relates to the architecture of the Pluto-Sun
opposition and that the last quarter moon, a moon-sun square, would
automatically square Pluto at the same time. Synchronicity points to
the most progressive response during these times with Pluto at
Galactic Center during the Lunar Extremes-the very next lunar
alignment is in Aries on the North Node. The message: stand up for
oneself with clarity and courage, say "No!" to violation and denial,
fight for what one knows even if one is completely outnumbered. And
perhaps move in a new direction. This is the essence of Aries
leadership courage. A trine from Mars/Saturn, which made their precise
conjunction with each other on the 17th, provides lots of stabilizing
and energizing support. The Wise Elder and Sacred Masculine offer both
supportive counsel (if externalized) and inspiration (if internalized)
for taking a stand.

June 19 another remarkable change signature occurs: the North Node
moves into Pisces for the first time in nineteen years, and at 1EDT,
Uranus stations. It turns direct at 10EDT. Those undergoing Uranus
initiation right now may find this a powerful window for receiving
insight and clarity. Even if one's world is shattering, embracing
change can turn Uranus initiation into a thrilling adventure.
Remember, the planets are always conspiring to support our highest
good. Mercury precisely aligns with Pollux 6° SSW along the ecliptic
today, possibly adding a creative strain for the monkey mind in facing
radical change.



Last Crescent Tuesday June 20 - Friday June 23 in Aries, Taurus and
Gemini out-of-bounds

Balsamic Moon. The moon has become a crescent, rising late at night
and mostly visible throughout the day west of the sun. The energies
are pensive as the past month's adventures get integrated. Mythically,
the hero/ine has returned to the world (the moon is with us during the
day) and is distilling his/her journeys to offer some gift from the
process in the spirit of teacher, prophet, philosopher.

The first part of the distillation cycle begins in Aries, with a
flaming conviction and sense of purpose. That the moon trines Pluto
while squaring Mercury at its maximum elongation from the sun suggests
that perhaps the insights distilled from this month's journey in many
ways challenge the super-creative monkey mind while satisfying the
deep self. The moon moves into Taurus on the evening of June 20,
becoming quieter and more thoughtful, receiving the fruits of this
month's adventures deeper in the body and then completes a Grand Cross
with Chiron, Jupiter and Mars/Saturn on the 21st. The moon has had to
navigate through this tense and dynamic configuration all month (the
Mars/Saturn-Jupiter-Chiron tee-square) and here gets a chance to
reflect on the powerful medicine that this planetary council has been
offering. Does it feel triumphant? Bittersweet? Does s/he gasp in
relief that s/he's home safe for now? Just before passing by Venus to
activate the goddess' 5th Gate Initiation, the moon squares Neptune
bringing in celestial wisdom again in the distillation process. Is it
confusing or illuminating? Take some time to meditate on the 22nd (or
late in the evening of the 21st) if you've been moving in harmony with
this moon cycle.

The sun's transit into the archetype of Cancer on the 21st further
slows and softens the energies. The planetary life force will resonate
to the deeply committed, caring and thoughtful frequencies of the
Great Mother/Father, holding safe space for our collective well-being
over the next thirty days. This is the longest day of the year in the
northern hemisphere, with the sun rising and setting farther north
than any other time this year. In other words, it's Summer Solstice or
Midsummer. In the Arctic Circle, the sun doesn't set. And only at this
time in history, the sun aligns on this day of the year with the
galactic plane at Galactic Anti-Center.

Venus precisely conjuncts the moon in the evening of the 22nd of June
at 29Taurus, although we experience it shamanically in the morning sky
on June 23. Not only does this 5th Gate solar plexus or power-center
initiation happen in the last degree of a sign (which is usually
considered very powerful), but it's also infused with the noteable
energies of the just barely out-of-bounds moon. In Taurus, claiming
her power embodies a significant need to focus the will-power deeply
in the body. Is it grounded? Does it strengthen her kinesthetic
connection with the earth and her own body? Does it bring her
pleasure? Is it sensually healthy? Does it fulfill her personal
aesthetics? These are the kinds of questions that she must engage
relative to personal will, focused power, and intent.

At this gate, the moon occults the Pleiades, also known as the Seven
Sisters, on the shoulder of the great constellation the Bull. The
Pleiades have anchored a central role in mythologies around the world.
For the Hawaiians, the sunset rise of this star cluster (which has
happened in the fall for the past few thousand years) marked the
beginning of the Makahiki, a four month time of peace, harvest and
celebration dedicated to the beneficent god Lono. For ancient
Europeans, this same event marked the time of the dead and the
judgment of the dead (the sunset rise has occurred near All Hallow's
Eve for the past few thousand years). Greek lore tells many stories
about the lovely Seven Sisters. In one story, after Atlas had to carry
the world on his shoulders, Orion began pursuing the lovely maidens,
so Zeus transformed them first into doves and then into stars. Indians
of the desert Southwest claim ancestry from the Pleiades, and this
remarkable cluster of stars is often described as a stargate or
doorway home. The Maya saw it as a rattlesnake tail and calculated the
Turning of the Ages from the star cluster's alignment with the zenith
sun position, "The Time of No Shadows" when the sun shines directly
overhead, a phenomenon only experienced at certain latitudes twice a
year. In the Yucatan, the Maya were tracking the 0Gemini sun position.
The Pleiades is currently aligned there for the first time in 26,000
years, with the precise alignment in 2012. So what does it mean?
Perhaps this Venus gate marks some significant opportunity to
reconnect with origins or, playing on the allure of the Seven Sisters,
ties deeply into the Taurean archetype as an initiation into
beauty--for those who undergo the initiation--most likely for those
with sensitive points near 29Taurus and particularly those going
through a Venus Return or possibly with Venus in Capricorn.

What does it mean that every month from February to September this
year the Balsamic Moon meets Venus? The sacred feminine, the anima,
plays an important part, for the 260 days that Venus is in the morning
sky, in the monthly integrations to distill the wisdom of the lunar
cycle. But because we understand Morning Star Venus as an impetuous
War Goddess, the exchange has more the texture of the wizened moon
dispensing lessons to the sacred feminine/anima. After passing Venus
this month, the last crescent moon moves into Gemini and further
out-of-bounds. It will probably be visible as a faint crescent on the
horizon just before sunrise on June 24, but then swiftly passes into
the new moon phase.



New Moon Saturday June 24 - Sunday June 25 in Gemini and Cancer, at
the Lunar Extreme aligned with Galactic Anti-Center

The Call to Adventure. We return to the dark moon, the unplanted and
fertile ground that awaits new seeds or new projects, that beckons the
hero/ine out on a new quest.

Wow. If last month's New Moon and Full Moon were extraordinary, this
one is also! Whereas last month, the lunar extreme and Galactic
Anti-Center alignment happened during the early first crescent phase,
this month, it's at the new moon. The power of this cycle can be
compared to a bow that's drawn WAY WAY BACK. However, unlike mid June,
the upcoming July full moon will be in Capricorn, twenty degrees
beyond Galactic Center, and out-of-bounds but not as far south as
June's full moon.

Still, any efforts to change the world and dream the dream forward
either through some sort of creative or communication venture that's
both non-linear and shadow-confrontational (the early new moon in
Gemini opposes Pluto at Galactic Center) or more centrally, some sort
of healing or nurturing task (precise New Moon is at 4Cancer) - gets
super energized this month. Wisdom (Capricorn) is the target at which
the arrow flies from this way-drawn-back bow.

Venus comes its closest to the Pleiades June 24, lining up 6°SSE of
the bright cluster of stars. This means also that the goddess has
moved into the archetype of Gemini and into the role of coyote woman,
re-weaving playful, youthful, trickster energies back into the tapestry.



First Crescent Monday June 26 to Saturday July 1 in Cancer, Leo, and Virgo

Breaking Open of Seeds. We return to the first crescent phase of the
moon, a sliver in the western evening sky, and the breaking open of
seeds. The energies present during this phase will assist the
intentions set during this lunar cycle.

The early crescent moon hangs just below Pollux in the constellation
the Twins on the evening of June 26 and further below but still close
to Hermes Mercury. It passes Mercury on the 27th to emerge at sunset
above Mercury and below Saturn. Trickster in a sweet mood (Hermes
Mercury in Cancer) transmits creative information or assistance to the
Quest, although it's possible this perceived benefit on the part of
the moon comes as a bit of a creative effort for Trickster. June 28
the moon in Leo has all kinds of company: Saturn, Mars, the Beehive
Cluster, the asteroid Vesta which it occults, and it opposes Chiron
and Neptune. Self-love, hard work, courage and leadership, alchemical
wisdom, an acceptance of imperfection, and a spiritual or inspired
perspective are all helpful this month.

That Mars' 8th heroic labor happens at the same time sets up the
animus/sacred masculine as a helper even as he faces challenges over
the next month to find self-love, to show up in radiant and
charismatic ways, perhaps through some creative endeavor, to be a
star, while also honoring Saturn's wisdom, serious devotion and
focused attention; opposite Chiron (loosely), he may have to deal with
crises and the need to surrender to a less than perfect outcome;
opposite Neptune he may feel confused, dreamy, excessively idealistic
or flooded with other-worldly inspiration; square Jupiter in Scorpio
may add overwhelming (possibly thrilling) intensity and the need to
discern the difference between ridiculous and necessary audacity; and
the moon again occults the major asteroid Vesta, just adding to the
intense sense of important of the work to be done. In the thick of the
Beehive Cluster so much is being birthed at this time. June 30 when
the moon moves into Virgo and precise attention to the sacred order of
things becomes another useful tool, Venus trines Chiron. Both Virgo
and Chiron are often connected with healing, and the combination seems
to offer some sort of healing alchemy, especially to the goddess in
the 5th Gate refinements to her power-center, the house of her
intentions.

And it is intention that drives everything, is it not? Including the
intention to participate in the great As Above, So Below planetary dance.
