Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 | We are now leading up to Venus' trine to Pluto, exact tomorrow at about 8:11 AM in NYC, overnight in the UK. We will likely be feeling the intensity rise as the day progresses.
A trine is usually an easy aspect, but the trouble with easy is that it could pass us by. Although with Pluto in the mix, it would be really hard (if not nearly impossible) to let that happen. I see a trine visually like slide: it can be an easy, freewheeling, exhilarating ride down, but for that we need to climb to the top first. This may mean that a little more effort is required on our parts to make what needs to happen, happen. Once we are done gaining momentum, we can coast along with the natural flow.
Juno in Scorpio squares Nessus in Aquarius today, followed shortly by the Moon's ingress into Cancer. Juno is one of the first four discovered asteroids; she was the wife of Jupiter and is considered the Goddess of Marriage. Juno yearned for a deeply committed, mystical and sexual union, but suffered infidelity because Jupiter had numerous affairs outside the marriage, all the while holding her loyal to him in sexual chastity. What Juno wanted was an equal partnership, the denial of which led to issues of jealousy, abandonment, oppression, and possessiveness, among others. But she remained faithful to Jupiter. Her loyalty and ability to stand by her husband were her strongest attributes.
Nessus belongs to the class of Centaur planets and represents the 'bottom line' and often points to patterns of abuse - be it sexual, psychological or any other kind. Another key phrase would be 'the buck stops here.' Basically with Nessus, we learn where to put a full stop to recurring situations and patterns.
Squares generally internalize the energy, and with Juno and Nessus in aspect, the message is fairly clear. How far are we willing to go in order to maintain status quo, and where do we draw the line? How much do we 'allow' ourselves to be taken advantage of? How badly do we want to maintain the facade of perfection? and at what cost? and to whom? With Juno in Scorpio, there is a need and desire for freedom of sexual expression, deep intimacy and commitment. The aspect to Nessus in Aquarius is reminding us to find the balance and difference between pride and self-respect; silent suffering and putting your foot down; fear of loss and independence.
When does 'unconditional' love start to be taken for granted? Does defining our boundaries and stating our needs equal 'conditional' love? Often we don't ourselves know what our limits are, much less how to convey these to another. There are some key evaluations that we need to make within ourselves now. So when the time comes, we know where we stand - and who stands with us.
With the Moon in Cancer conjuncting Mars, we could experience volatile emotions, or generally 'feel' a lot more intensely than usual. When faced with a situation that requires you to count to ten... do.
I just wanted to add that today India celebrates the birthday of "The Father of the Nation," Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, aka 'Mahatma' Gandhi. "Maha-atman" translated means the "great-soul," and truly he was one. A true Libran, he stood for equality, justice, peace. He was the pioneer of Satyagraha — the resistance of tyranny through mass civil disobedience, and he firmly believed in 'ahimsa' or total non-violence — which led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. On June 15th, 2007, the UN unanimously adopted a resolution declaring October 2 to be the "International Day of Non-Violence." Given the state of the world today, this man's life carries a deep message for us all.
I remember as a child, our textbooks in school had a quote from Gandhi printed on the cover that read "Good handwriting is the sign of great character." Ironically, it is said that he himself really did not like his own handwriting. Humility preceeds greatness. As they say, the greatness of this man was his simplicity - let's try to find the Gandhi in ourselves.

It is now 4:30 AM, and I feel like I haven't slept a wink in days because of all this energy. But as the Oracle says, I'm ready to Carpe Diem! Have fun and catch you tomorrow.
