i am putting this here so that, hopefully, most of you will see it, as i imagine that practically all of us tend to check general before anything else - i know i do! i am sure that MiRa or Sowelu will move it in due course, but would be grateful if it could be left for a teeny while to give folks a chance to read the news!

nearly two hundred thousand people signed the petition begun by the royal society for the prevention of cruelty to animals, asking the french government to prevent fishermen of reunion isle, which is a french controlled island, from using live dogs and cats as shark bait. the petition was handed into the french embassy, and the french government were horrified and promised to take action! the news of this abhorrent practise had spread round the world, and the islanders of reunion were very embarrassed also. so they should be.....but i'm digresing.....i just wanted to thank everyone who signed the rspca petition, and my own petition, because although i know full well that it wasnt mine that made the french government sit up and take notice, it was good of you to do so. the rspca petition, however, was incredibly successful, and hopefully this hideous practise will now be forbidden!

i am so overjoyed that people HAVE made a difference - a real difference....one by one, signature by signature.

WOW!!!! Great news! I'm so happy to hear this too and thank you Sama for starting the petitions and letting us all know about them. NO ONE has a right to take advantage of innocents like this. NO ONE!

Sama if it weren't for you I would never have even heard about this atrocity, and would not have signed the petition myself. Thank you for being that constant voice for the animals.

thank you lovely people! there are so many wonderful folk who flock to sign petitions to stop horrors like these. i know that this is not, strictly speaking, the right board for them (sorry sowelu and MiRa) but if you visit www.care2.com and click on the petitions site, you will find petitions that would make you weep to think that they even had to be created.

such hideous cruelty goes on in this beautiful world of ours, but it is a relief to know that people do listen, and that things can change, albeit a little step at a time. ascension is hard work at times, and doesnt, i think, always involve the totally spiritual. i think sometimes it involves a good hard slog at doing something to rectify an obvious wrong. well, thats my perspective, anyway!

I haven't been around for a while. Popped in today to see this message. This is one of causes that I have also been petitioning to have changed. Nice to see you lovely folks here were also doing your bit to help.
