New Moon

I am looking for information on the New Moon phase. I've looked online and mosltly I get dates and that it's the part of the moon not being lit by the sun, blah blah blah. I guess I'm looking for something with more substance. I don't know what, but something. So I thought I'd ask here if anyone knows anything interesting about the New Moon phase.
