[bg=white] Why not suspend disbelief for a day? By Lorna Byrne AUGUST 2011 |

"I don't believe in angels, or guardian angels... I don't believe in any of that nonsense at all," said the woman I met in Bewleys Cafe in Dublin last week. I smiled to myself. I could see the light of her guardian angel behind her and there were six big beautiful white angels around her.
I meet lots of people who tell me they don't believe in angels or guardian angels. I have no idea why I can see angels and others can't – I'm just an ordinary person. I understand though, that for some people it's hard to believe that there could be such a thing as an angel. I can't prove the existence of angels to anyone. I wish I could. But I said to this woman what I say to anyone who doubts the existence of angels: "What have you got to lose by suspending your cynicism for a day?"
I don't ever try to change anyone's beliefs, but I know how much angels can help us. I see a guardian angel with each and every person I meet.
I continue to be surprised that people who are prepared to accept that angels exist doubt that they personally have a guardian angel. It's as if they believe other people have one but that they don't. Some people tell me that they believe they don't deserve one, that they are not good enough, or that someone else needs one more than them. This is why I have – as many of you aware – written a new chapter for the paperback of Stairways to Heaven about "The Secrets of your Guardian Angel." In that new chapter I talk more about guardian angels to help you to understand just what special help you have there available beside you all the time.
Your guardian angel loves you unconditionally and it wants to help you. I see guardian angels doing so much to help the person they are caring for. Just before my daughter, Ruth, had her baby, I was with her in the hospital. We were in the canteen and at one table by the window there was a group of doctors or midwives, all dressed in green medical uniforms. They kept coming and going as if they were in a hurry, but always seemed glad to be able to sit down and rest with a cup of tea.
A young doctor walked towards the table. He was on his mobile phone and he looked very stressed. The call wasn't finished by the time he reached the table so he paced back and forth between his colleagues at the table and the door of the canteen. At one point he called to one of his colleagues to give him a pen and paper and stood, talking and making notes. As he did so his guardian angel opened up behind him. His guardian angel was very beautiful, tall and slender and gave a male appearance. I couldn't see wings but he glowed so brightly and within the light I could see an emerald green colour. His guardian angel spoke to me without words and told me that he was helping to give the doctor confidence, to help him feel that no matter how stressed he was, he was going to be able to help the patient he was discussing. I watched as the guardian angel whispered to the doctor. The doctor's call finished and he immediately turned to his colleagues without sitting down and I heard him say "I think I know what to do, I'm going back up to the ward." I know his guardian angel helped and the doctor played his part and listened.
As we continued to sit there, a heavily pregnant woman walked in wearing a dressing gown and slippers. Her guardian angel opened up. It was if her guardian angel was all around her, rather than behind her, which is how I would normally see them. I could see her guardian angel's wings so clearly – they seemed to be snow white with a touch of silver which glittered in the light. The wings were open and wrapped around her and seemed to intertwine in front of her heavily pregnant belly as if protecting both mother and baby. I watched her as she walked around the canteen – I think she was just having a walk to stretch her legs. I found it hard to take my eyes off her because I was so moved by the gentleness, care and love that the guardian angel was showing for her. I could still see her guardian angel moving as one with her as she walked out of the canteen.
If only you could see what I see. If for only one moment you could see the unconditional love that your guardian angel has for you (regardless of whether you are being good or not) you would be full of joy and much happier in life. Try and suspend any doubts you might have about having a guardian angel. Try and believe in the unconditional love your guardian angel has for you.
