Esoteric Astrology for the week of October 28 -
November 3, 2004

The Election

After El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)
and All Saints Day when the world shimmers with
ghosts, goblins and strange Presences from the
etheric (other) side of life, it is time once
again for the presidential elections Tuesday,
Nov. 2nd. Called by pollster John Zogby the
"Armageddon election" due to our having "divided
ourselves into two equal warring nations," it is
difficult for anyone to predict the winner -- the
Tin Man or the Scarecrow (referring to Zogby's
Wizard of Oz poll several weeks ago where the Tin
Man won). Along with Cancer Moon,
sign of the United States natal Sun,
Bush's Sun and the star Sirius where
love, liberty and freedom originate, there are
many astrological variables and
cosmic realities affecting this
election. What are they? First, the US progressed
Sun enters Pisces (after thirty years
in Aquarius) on Election Day. Sun in
Pisces creates an atmosphere of both
confusion and innocence. It also presents a
situation in which last minute voters
instinctively change their minds
without understanding why. Second, the October
eclipses brought turbulence and major
changes and their outcomes, still in
the future, are complex. We will understand our
choice for president only in
retrospect. Third we are living in a
time of terrorism and worldwide violence.
Whoever is elected president will have to be
of the warrior class to withstand the
coming turbulent times. We know who
the warriors presently are. Fourth, we are
living in two ages, Pisces and Aquarius,
simultaneously, and thus two
different stages of reality are apparent.
The religious aspect of Bush's presidency
reflects the Ray 6 (Pisces Age of
faith) era humanity is now leaving.
(Ray 6 is being withdrawn.) The intelligence of
Kerry's campaign reflects Rays 5 & 7
(Aquarian knowledge) of the incoming
culture and civilization. (Ray 7 is now
streaming in.). Rays, influencing every aspect
of life on Earth, originate from the
stars in the Big Dipper. The Rays are
our Creator Gods. Because both candidates
represent different developmental stages of
humanity, it must therefore be
acknowledged that both Bush and Kerry
are correct for each of the two groups they
represent. The question is whether
humanity and the United States are
prepared for the Aquarian (Ray 7) agenda which
Kerry (Amy Goodman, Jim Hightower to
name a few) represents. It's entirely
possible that we are not. Therefore, we
will need to tend to the Pisces (US Sun enters
Pisces on Election Day), or Ray 6
agenda in order to plan for the newer
progressive realities at a future time.


What are the Ray 6 agendas occurring today? Ray 6
streams through Mars, planet of war, terrorists,
fanaticism and religion. If it is true that we
must still work within the Ray 6 agendas, then we
will need a president and his advisors who
represent the warrior class. This is, of course,
George Bush. The Ray 6 group of humanity must
uphold all that has gone before including
corporate and business practices and the
distribution of wealth among the very few. This
group also is the warrior class. The Ray 7 group
has a more peaceful vision for a
future of Goodwill to all, which
includes national health care and a more
equalized distribution of the wealth
and resources. The Ray 7 group is not
the warrior class. They are humanists,
progressives, the thinking public, with
intentions based primarily on
Goodwill and Unanimity. After the votes are
counted, it will be interesting for us to
see to which group most of humanity
(or those who voted) belongs.

The horoscope for each sign below describes what
our presidential tasks would be from a spiritual
level if we were elected president.

Celestial Events

Thursday, Oct. 28 is a rather unsheltered day.
Risk taking will not be protected. We'll plunge
into things deep and transforming and wounds
could occur. In the evening all's well. Nothing
dark our way comes.

Friday, Oct. 29 is void-of-course (v/c) from 2:50
pm to 8:11 pm (PDT). Mercury and Chiron
intercept. Communication can heal us. Use words
for that outcome.

Saturday, Oct. 30: truth and ideal make no sense
of each other. A difficult situation. We might
not know what we believe anymore.

Sunday, Oct. 31 (daylight savings time ends - we
turn our clocks back) is Halloween (also the
Celtic Samhain or "summer's end", which begins
tonight - November's Eve - Halloween) and what
better sign for Halloween that Scorpio who hides
behind mask after mask for protection, inner
balance, to hide their constant states of death
and regeneration and transformations, and as a
surcease (cessation) from pain. During this El
Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and
tomorrow's All Saints Day we might consider
making altars in memory and remembrance of those
who have passed onto the other side of life. An
excellent model for these altars is in the
Mexican culture, which does not shy away from the
livingness of the dead. Instead, when the veil is
very thin between the two worlds (matter and
etheric) the Mexican culture celebrate on
Halloween and All Saints and Souls Days because
they know this is a time for the dead to return
home and visit loved ones, feast on their
favorite foods and listen to favorite music. It's
a happy time. In their homes, family members
honor the deceased with ofrendas or offerings,
which may consist of photographs, bread, foods,
flowers, toys, and other symbolic offerings.

There are also calaveras strung,
eaten, made into toys and shadow boxes. Calaveras
are whimsical renditions of skulls
and skeletons to depict the humor of
death and that death, though sad, is simply
another way of living. Graveyards are
visited, marigold flowers
(cempazuchitl, the flower with 400 lives) and
favorite foods for the deceased are
placed on the headstones, thus
creating another altar of celebration
for the dead. Marigold flowers were thought by
the Aztec Indians to symbolize death.
It is believed that the scent of the
petals forms a welcome path for the spirits to
return to their altar or grave. Sugar
skulls are everyplace, molded from a
sugar paste, then decorated with
icing, glitter and foil, these skulls also are
placed on altars. The sugar represents
the sweetness of life, and the skull
represents the sadness of death. From

we read, "Mexican press artist Jose
Guadalupe Posada, who died in 1913
was inspired by muralist Diego Rivera and
others to create his caricatures of the rich
and political, all depicted as
skeletons. Katarina, a skeletal
figure in a plumed hat and dress, has become the
instant visual signal of El Dia de Los
Muertos." Katarina and company are in
evidence all over Mexico as altars are
set up Oct. 30 and 31. In homes, tables are
covered with flowers, fruits,
vegetables, candles, incense, and
statues of saints, photos of the deceased. The
sky is represented by a sheet or
strings of paper cutouts.
Traditionally, the flowers used are marigolds,
and the incense used on the altar is
copal, the resin from a particular
tree. Like moles (a chocolate-chile sauce) and
chile-laced dishes prepared for some of
the ancestors, the flowers are quite
aromatic and the copal has a
distinctive smell. The aromas are used or
consumed by the spirits, which, like
the scents, can't be seen. The foods
are eaten (or given away) by the living later,
after their essence has been
consumed."

At our Institute in Santa Cruz, in
order to remember those who have gone before us,
we are creating an Altar of
Remembrance. For the entire month of
November we will have on our altar the names of
our friends and relatives who have
passed into the next world. Our
prayers and meditations will be directed to
those Souls who we miss very much yet know
their lives are filled with liberty,
freedom, Love and Wisdom they sought
in this lifetime. Om Mani Padme Hum.

Monday, Nov. 1 is All Saints Day. The Moon
enters Cancer at 6:53 am (PST). Cancer helps us
to remember our families, those living and those
who have passed on. The day is free from major
transits. We therefore are free, too. A pause
and an interlude in our even increasing tests of
Scorpio (through Mars) and the state of
transformation (from Pluto) that Scorpio provides
us as an opportunity for change. All Saints Day
is a Christian Feast Day. It honors saints, both
known and unknown. All Saints is a day to
remember, venerate and pray to the saints in
heaven for assistance. Saints are those humans
who practice(d) the virtues (streamed in each
month through the Rays) and Right Living.

Tuesday, Nov. 2 is Election Day. We all vote
and may the best man for our developmental needs
win. It's also All Soul's Day when prayers are
offered to and for the souls of all who have
departed this life. The prayers are also for
those who were waiting in Purgatory for entry
into Heaven. (A Tibetan explanation of this can
be found in the Tibetan Book of the Living &
Dying by Sogyal Rinpoche). Throughout the
centuries, pagan and Christian beliefs
intertwine in a mingling of celebrations from Oct
31st through November 5th, all of which appear
both to challenge the ascendancy of the dark and
to celebrate in its mystery. Very Scorpio indeed.
The evening on Tuesday is veiled (appropriate
during this time of year).

Wednesday, Nov. 3 we are to recover from all the
various visitors we received from the Spirit
world in the past three days. We also learn who
our new president is. It is good to rest today.

There's a v/c Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm till
7:32 pm (PST)when the Moon enters fiery Leo. Good
for celebration, praise, recognition, and loving
encounters. And for deep understanding concerning
our present political situation.


ARIES (March 21-April 20): How you
and other Aries vote will prove to be potent and
transformative. You will reorient your personal
opinions toward what is the most good for
humanity. It will be a test as to whom you vote
for. Who in your opinion can undertake the
one-pointed Path? Communicate your thoughts on
this election. Use discrimination.

TAURUS (April 21-May 21): You are
focused on the Path of World Service. With this
agenda you are to communicate the Aquarian law of
Right Human Relations. This brings the new
culture and civilization into focus for those you
encounter, a most important endeavor for the
construction of evolutionary ideas and creates in
others Active Intelligence.

GEMINI (May 23-June 20): A most
important idea in the Mind of God takes root in
yours. You are able to hold this idea, gestate
it, and bring it into form at a later time. This
is most important for Earth and for the United
States (Gemini rising) in the tribulations to
come. You are the messenger who brings the
message of spirituality into the "world of men
(mind)." You therefore carry the virtues of the
world later to be dispersed. Carry them well.

CANCER (June 21-July 20): You are to
harness your communication with
Will(ingness). You are also to harness
the will to Love. This connects you with the
Lord of the Solar System (the Sun)
and with Venus, the planet where the
Lord of the World came from. Family, though most
important, is secondary from now on.
You will do both tasks, but one will
be primary.

LEO (July 21-Aug. 22): When you
communicate you can either speak only of self or
allow others a sense of emotional security and
self-control. You are to be the sustained
nourishment that others need. You are to bring
people and ideas and all the kingdoms of nature
together. I hear you already do this. In
psychological terms you are therefore the
"good-enough mother" which means perfect.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22): There are
great possibilities being offered within the
regions of your mind. You have the potential to
harmonize your expressions so they create unity
within. Through science and through concrete
knowledge gathering, not mysticism, you can
anchor the Soul. This creates real perception and
expressions of truth. Can you do it?

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 22): It is
important that you dedicate your life, day by
day, to God. An excellent visualization would be,
as you awake, to enter into all seven Ashrams of
the Hierarchy, lay out your gifts as treasures to
be used, and offer them in service to humanity.
Know that the old order is being
destroyed now, making the path to God
more assessable. Form is to be filled with light
and art and beauty are its channels.
Only through you can this occur.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 21): Your mind
has the possibility of being illumined. This
creates solutions to problems and later on the
task of being a "seer" for the age. Through you,
should you accept this task, humanity is "led to
the Light." Through you illusion is to be
shattered and diffused. Your powerful will can
pierce through darkness in order to free the
light. Can you?

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 20): You
have become like the fish in Pisces. Just for
awhile. Something is finished. Something is
over. This is the Pisces experience. Why this
occurs is so that a new cycle can begin. Allow
it. And do not allow the limitations of the mind
to inhibit inner perception. You do that
sometimes. That's to be over, too.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21-Jan. 20): You are
like the water-bearer, the one called Aquarius
who, holding a pitcher, pours water unto thirsty
humanity. This water is not water after all but
vibrational essences of the new times to come. It
would be good for you to study, or at least know,
what the Aquarian Laws and Principles are. For
you are their major archetype-holder. You are to
produce beauty and the new order.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 21-Feb. 18): It's
time, actually overtime, to realize that you are
not your personality but that you are the Soul.
Realizing this creates a unity that facilitates
harmony within all the endeavors you set out to
accomplish. Through you the plan of Creation is
brought to Earth. I know you may think this is
too profound. But it's true. Eventually your
creative intelligence will inform you of this
reality.

PISCES (Feb. 18-March 20): Intuition
is to replace instinct. Intuition is the higher
mind overshadowing the lower. You are a natural
teacher, even though you remain hidden to most.
You will soon disassociate from form, as you know
it. You will not die but the forms that you're
used to will. This is so you can enter more fully
into the Kingdom of Souls. This is
the impersonal life. Its path is service. For
now, retreat.
