REMINDER: My monthly UPDATE CLASS has been changed to Thursday, May 27.
This guide is based on astrological influences. Its purpose is to assist you
in making the best use of current energies, not to predict events. Your unique
experience will be most defined by transits to your personal chart.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR MAY 17-23, 2004:
Monday: Neptune goes Retrograde, Uranus trine Mars, Venus goes Retrograde
Tuesday: New Moon in Taurus
Thursday: Sun enters Gemini
Friday: Chiron inconjunct Venus, Pluto sesquiquadrate Mercury, Uranus sextile
Mercury, Jupiter sextile Mars
Sunday: Jupiter trine Mercury
You may be feeling somewhat sleepy, dreamy, or blasé as you read this.
Neptune changes direction early Monday morning (5:13am PDT), which means that the
transcendental planet is an especially strong influence all week. One of
Neptune's tasks is to help us connect with alternate realities, so it may be hard to
focus on things that are purely practical or rational. That sense of
other-worldliness can be of benefit in many ways, however - for meditation, intuitive
work, creative dreaming, etc.
This may be a time of particular interest to those born within a day or two
of February 4, April 3, August 6, or November 6. Neptune is working
specifically with you to dissolve some of the ways in which you have defined yourself, to
make way for greater trust and allowing in your life.
The Sabian symbol associated with the degree at which Neptune stations reads:
"A big businessman at his desk." That visual seems very contrary to mystical
Neptune, so I include part of the explanation: "It introduces the concept of
management...which needs to be totally reevaluated if mankind is to actualize
the spiritual potentialities implied in the evolutionary transformation just
ahead." This symbol indicates that as Neptune moves backwards through the sky
over the next five months, we'll be reevaluating how we manage our personal
lives, and perhaps our collective lives as well.
The station of Venus on Monday usually would not be such a major event -
except for the fact that it sets up the Venus transit across the face of the Sun
on June 8, as I discussed last week. If Venus were closer to us, this would
manifest as a solar eclipse, with Venus blocking the Sun's light at the time of
totality. What part of the world will actually see, however, is a small black
spot crossing the solar disk.
This alignment seems to be a doorway of sorts, allowing a brief glimpse into
a greater source of knowledge (the conjunction is in Gemini) that can enhance
self-acceptance (Venus conjunct the Sun), and therefore acceptance of others.
In history, the efforts to observe the event have resulted in short-term
alliances between scientific and political communities, nicely reflecting the
joining of beauty and consciousness.
The New Moon this week is in Taurus, and offers us the opportunity to find
balance and security in the face of conflict. The key is in finding a new
perspective, one that can accept the duality of two differing points of view and/or
ways of doing things. Since retrograde Venus is the ruler of Taurus, this New
Moon also indicates that a time of reflection is appropriate, with the intent
of reconnecting with our personal values. The Full Moon in two weeks (June 2)
forms a mutable grand cross, at which time we will be challenged to release
whatever we have found to be either extraneous or contrary.
The Sun enters Gemini on Thursday, emphasizing communication, logic, and
information-gathering for the next four weeks. That desire to share thoughts and
ideas is especially triggered throughout the end of this week through aspects
to Mercury. It may be helpful to keep in mind that communication involves both
speaking and listening – and that life would be boring if everyone always
thought and believed the same as you do. Gemini influence will help us remember
that variety really is the spice of life.
If life seems particularly up in the air at times over the next few weeks,
see if you can interpret it as a blessing rather than a curse. On June 10,
Uranus will follow Neptune in the relay race of planets going retrograde. This
means that over the next two weeks, both planets have their hands on the baton.
Neptune may be more subtle and Uranus more abrupt. but each encourages us to
rise above old definitions, and to embrace new concepts and directions. Think
of surfing, which (I presume!) takes balance, flexibility, and awareness. We
each have these qualities available to us, and it is important to use them
during times of change.
Blessings to you!
Pam
