The New Year of 2007 = 9 Signifying Initiation
Happy New Year, everyone. We're entering the year 2007, a number that equals nine (9). Number always provides us with significant clues and information concerning what we are seeing and experiencing. The number nine signifies Transfiguration & Initiation; a state of reality coming to a close and another, new, higher vibration, stage of development and reality beginning. Initiations always occur "on a mountaintop." The three climbers (Ohm Mani Padme Hum) lost on Mt. Hood prior to Christmas (& Capricorn) symbolized and signaled to humanity that our Initiation (Transfiguration), always on a mountaintop, has begun.
The twelve days from December 26th-Januray 6th are, in the inner Mystery school, called the Twelve Holy Days of Christmas. Each day represents gifts from one of the twelve zodiacal signs and Lords. Together all twelve days contain the esoteric seeds of the coming new year. Tuesday, December 26th represents the gifts of Aries. Wednesday, December 27th represents the gifts provided humanity from Taurus. And so on till we reach Pisces, January 6th when the Twelfth Day occurs. The next day is Epiphany, the celebration of the Three Astrologer Kings bearing not only gold, frankincense and myrrh, but also signifying the gifts of the zodiac. Each day we set aside time to ponder upon the gifts of each sign and contact the Lords of that sign. In this way we lay the template of holiness for the entire next year.
Full Moon, First Solar Festival of 2007
Join us, the NGWS, Wednesday, January 3rd (5:58 am Pacific time) for first Full Sun/Moon solar festival of 2007. Mercury joins us with a message that the Will to Good must translate into Goodwill to be part of the New Group of World Servers. The Soul's meditative seed thought for Capricorn is "Lost am I in Light supernal, yet on that light I turn my back." Capricorn provides us with the "Light of Initiation."
This is the New Year of 2007 (9) Column. Number always provides us with significant information. Nine is always referred to as the culmination of one phase of life and the preparation for the next. Nine is the number of Initiation and each year during Sag we prepare for Initiation and during Capricorn we experience Initiation. We experienced the tests of Initiation with the mountain-climbers who attempted to climb Mt. Hood (Oregon's highest mountain, 47 miles east of Portland) prior to Christmas. Our prayers go forth on the wings of compassion to the families of the Mt. Hood mountain-climbers. Ohm Mani Padme Hum.
Prior to Christmas the news (around the world) focused on Mt. Hood, the mountain climbers, their perilous journey and the sad (on earth levels) outcome. The mountain itself has been photographed and pictures of Mt. Hood have been seen around the world. This focus on the mountain brings us significant esoteric information if we observe these events through the lens of esoteric astrology.
During Sag, the light of Sag is has a one-pointed direction & focus on reaching the mountaintop where Initiation (Capricorn) occurs. Initiation is a change of consciousness, a change in the state of vibration, a life- changing event. During Sag the task of the disciple is to reach the mountain in order to climb it during Capricorn. Thus the task of Sag is the preparation and focus for the "mountaintop experience." Having left the caves of Scorpio, Sag rides over the plains in preparation for climbing the mountain of Initiation. In the news coverage many of the Scorpio, Sag and Capricorn words were used and all the experiences of these three signs were brought out into the open. Caves, mountain, mountaintop, life, death, focus.
Often, quite unknown to us, the causal spiritual esoteric events occurring on inner levels are also simultaneously occurring exteriorly as events of the day. Usually they are not as apparent as this particular (mountain) event. But in this case, as humanity is on the brink of a great Initiation and during a time when the Pluto (transformation, death, life) is at the Galactic Center with Mercury (a message sent to humanity) all eyes were focused on this mountaintop event and putting into focus the themes of life and death, ascent and descent, caves, levels of preparation, being lost, the whiteness of the snow, etc. These all provided humanity with the Sag symbols of direction (focus on the mountaintop of Capricorn).
Finally, after days of searching and waiting, we had news of the climbers' deaths. We are reminded that death of the body is not the end of the life force or life cycle of the human (or animal or planet or planet). Death is actually a liberation of the life force from the deeply restricted school and planet called Earth. Also at death we are reminded that the release of the life force can be used by humanity for the radiations of love and of goodness.
Death also reminds us that our life on Earth is a sacrifice. Earth is one of three planets of Sorrow and Suffering. Initiations (moving to the next vibrational level of development) involve great sacrifice. The death (not always and only physical death) involved in Initiation is the death of the previous way of living and of beliefs. Thus through the television humanity was able to observe and partially participate in a great esoteric event - an Initiation exemplifying our Initiation, also.
Concerning the first and later efforts (beginning in 1924) to climb Mount Everest (http://www.factmonster.com/spot/everest2.html) the Tibetan stated in his blue books, "The attempt today to climb Mount Everest is amazingly symbolic, and it is being watched with much interest by the Hierarchy, for in this effort we see the attempt of humanity to achieve the top of the mountain whose height has hitherto defeated all efforts. But - and this is the matter of moment and of interest - when humanity emerges into the light and relative glory of the new civilization, they will at the same time conquer this last remaining summit. That which is of the densest materiality and which is the consummation of earthly grandeur (both referring to Capricorn) will remain - but it will be beneath the feet of humanity. (From Esoteric Astrology, AA Bailey, page 159, Lucis Trust, NY, NY).
The sign Capricorn (which we are now experiencing till January 20th) can be understood from two viewpoints in relation to the Mt. Hood events: "Capricorn is ever the sign of conclusion, and of this the mountain top is frequently (though not always) the symbol, for it marks the point beyond which further ascent in any particular life cycle is not possible. Capricorn is, therefore, the sign of what has been called esoterically "periodic arresting." Progress becomes impossible under the existing forms…" Also, Capricorn inaugurates a new cycle of effort. Effort, strain, struggle, the fight with the forces native to the underworld, or the strenuous conditions entailed by the tests of discipleship or initiation - these are distinctive of experience in Capricorn." (Ibid).
Thus we see the Capricorn is a sign of struggle, of conclusion and also the sign that inaugurates a new cycle of effort. Our mountain climbers now have entered into their new "cycle of effort." We thank them for providing us with the events that all of humanity will soon encounter - aspiration, testing, Initiation. We again recite the mantram used before, during & after the death process - Ohm Mani Padme Hum (to be recited 49 days after death).
To recap, the New Year, 2007, equals a number nine, the number that signifies Initiation itself. The mountaintop events of the three climbers were the outer events signaling to humanity that for all of us, our Initiations have begun in earnest. Stay tuned, everyone.
The week: It's a quiet week and Mercury's in Capricorn.
Thursday (representing Gemini Lords), an odd day with Aries Moon and a void-of-course (v/c) in the evening, is the feast of the Holy Innocents, a holy day celebrated within the octave of Christmas to "honor all the young people and infants killed within two years following the apparition of the star to the Wise Men. The Catholic Church venerates these children as martyrs (flores martyrum); they are the first buds of the Church killed by the frost of persecution" (Catholic Encyclopedia).
Friday (Cancer Lords), Taurus Moon at midnight, is stable with a few blurry edges. Can you see them?
Saturday (Leo Lords) we'll feel there's no compromise with conditions being placed on all endeavors, including relationships. We'll have to sit this out. It will pass.
Sunday (Virgo Lords), Gemini Moon, the air lightens up, we see more choices available, this and that, here and there. We can't choose. A party and a dance would be best. The night's mystical, a bit out of reach, and very unusual. We bid adieu to the old year. The New Year has arrived.
Monday (Libra Lords), the first day of the New Year. Beware, it's moody, up and down, stimulating and boring at the same time. Read instead. And prepare black-eyed peas with kale with a side dish of grits. Yum. A traditional southern New Year's dish during these prolonged "feast days."
Tuesday (Scorpio Lords) something's discovered, something's intuited, something's broken down and something's refreshed. The Moon in Cancer brings nurturing relief to whatever occurs. We become protective, though the moodiness continues, we tend to others' needs.
Wednesday (Sag Lords) is the Full Moon.
First Solar Festival - Full Moon
Wednesday, January 3rd is the first Full Sun/Moon festival of the year. It occurs at 5:58 am (Pacific time) at 13 degrees Capricorn/Cancer.
Capricorn is the "Light of Initiation." This is the light that clears the way to the mountaintop and produces transfiguration. The Rising Sun is revealed. We pause and rest in the light of the Sun (God, Father, Spirit) which at first blinds us. Remaining within that light becomes a desire, an aspiration, a dedication. But we hear the cries of humanity, knowing they need one who "has seen the light." Reluctantly, we turn our backs on that light and, becoming One Who Serves the World, we walk back down the mountain and return to humanity where from now on, as the Initiate, we are called to Serve. We therefore proceed once again through the Gates (Capricorn/mountain) and Cancer/humanity. We now take up the yoke (yoga) of Serving Humanity (in Aquarius). (Serving Humanity is also a book - a compilation of quotes from the Tibetan. It is available at Lucis Trust, NY, NY.).
