Scientists Back Superstorm Film 07-May-2004
Despite government pressure on NASA not to support the scenario in The Day After Tomorrow, scientists are backing the science behind the film. The part of the film most of them object to has to do with the compression of events that they think will happen gradually. Marine physicist Tim Barnett says, "What happens will frankly be worse than what they show, in the long run. Our lives and all our systems will get stretched and stretched and pushed and pushed. The conflicts that will come up will be remarkable." Andrew Bridges quotes oceanographer William Patzert as saying, "…Perhaps it's an opportunity to crank up the dialogue on our role in climate change." "To have a major studio release of a movie tackling a serious issue is a terrific opportunity for Americans to start talking about the reality of the problem, what can be done about it and the enormous threat that President Bush is not dealing with," says Peter Schurman of Moveon.org, which will be holding a rally outside the Museum of Natural History in New York during the premiere.
Former vice-president Al Gore, who will attend the rally, says, "Millions of people will be coming out of theaters on Memorial Day weekend, asking the question, 'Could this really happen?' I think we need to answer that question."

MirRa, This is a thread that you started over a year ago. I know it's hard to look back, and that we should look forward. I just want to tell you, that it's raining in Woodland Hills, which this is the shortest fire season we've ever had. No more Santa Ana winds. Remember the Topanga Canyon Wild Fire 2 weeks ago? It is also now snowing in Big Bear (San Bernardino, super flood area) all day. And, A couple of mini tornados touched down in the San Gabriel valley, along with a 4.9 earthquake. So what do you think about this thread now? Pretty severe weather changes in weeks. Kinda early for all this wet weather in So. Cal.

I heard on the radio today that we may expect heavier rains in the future due to the warmer weather the planet is getting. The warmer the weather the warmer the waters, this may explain why these strange weather patterns are happeniong now. As we hear, Spain and Portugal got a cyclone, something that has never been known to happen since they started recording weather patters which was in the 1950"s, I think it began in 1957, not sure about that date. Indeed if anyone thinks things are not changing they are blind and are not informed with what's going on about us. If the planet will be moving into a higher vibrating state, it is logical that the planet will start vibrating faster and we need to keep us with her pace if not then we have to get off. ;D

Day Two, Oct.17th, 2005. Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County and Orange County are under a flash flood watch. Hail stones the size of dimes have been spotted all over the San Gabriel valley, Emergency Broadcast Systems warns everyone to stay inside do to major electrical storms. But here's the kicker, the cells that are moving over the San Fernando valley towards Santa Clarita may cause severe Tornados. Tornados, in Los Angeles? Been hear over 25 years, never heard that before. Oops, they just added Ventura County to the list. Guess it's our turn now. And we're still in fire season. wwwa.accuweather.com/watches-warnings.asp?partner=netzero&myadc=0&traveler=1&zipcode=91367&county=CAC037&zone=CAZ047

I live in Toronto Canada. Usually by this point in Fall we are in full out cold rainy dismal days. Surprisingly enough (or not) things have changed. We have noted the shifting climate for the last few years my hubby and I, but this year was a real pivotal change. We had the most delightful summer weather EVER. And we are having a very mild, albeit windy autumn so far.
We are praying our winters will downgrade too, but there is skepticism on many sides. My husband is a weather fanatic, and some sources indicate the winter will in fact be harder.
I am just blow away by Gaias winds today, they are so forceful, and I went and sat in them freezing my tail feathers off, but feeling so much energy.
Makes me wonder whats next, and then I get excited lol
Much Love, D.
